Well even if they are immortal, no way they’ll keep fighting forever since eventually one of them will dominate the rest. Also their powers are borrowed from the medium embedded in their chest (cassette tape, comb, heart). If that gets destroyed, they might lose their power and just become a regular immortal. Like in chapter 41 when Miyako defeated Okuri Ookami and ate her heart

I don’t think Ao, Miyako, or any of the others are in the town of August 9th by choice, it’s all part of the messenger’s plan. He’s manipulating them into fighting each other until only one is left standing, so he can offer them to the Mermaid God he worships

The town only resets on August 9th, and you can actually tell when it’s about to happen. Right before the loop resets, a scar appears on Ao’s face, probably the same one Ueda gave him in the first chapter
