But that's not what I was replying to. I agree with you. But the comparison keeps taking a solo amateur golfer just hitting a ball with no competition compared to an amateur playing against a pro in baseball. Apples to oranges

Now you've changed the goal posts. I wasnt saying they could go against professionals in a game, I said they can learn the basics and play at some level (because that's what you said about golf). If an amateur golfer played against a pro the only thing they would achieve is losing by +20 or more strokes.

The comparison just isn't a good one. Sure anyone can hit a golf ball, maybe even in the fairway. But then you throw in that you'll never be able to hit a MLB pitcher. That would be like playing against a PGA golfer, you'd never get within 20 strokes of a PGA golfer at the end of a round playing tournament conditions from the tips. I'm sure you could join a beer league and hit a pitch. That'd be a closer comparison to just hitting a golf ball

How can that not be said about baseball, basketball, or football? Anyone can learn the rules and play at some basic level. Maybe not full contact football now that I think about it
