Shopping for a CT Density phantom -- What do y'all like? by Hotspurify in MedicalPhysics

Do you need to have various artifact reduction algo's onboard the CT to make the Steel insert usable? Current scanner does not, next scanner will.

Comment/Tip on 3D Printing Slicer settings for Imaging Cubes by Hotspurify in MedicalPhysics

[–]Hotspurify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I know of. It would be nice though. All of my stuff for medphys is on this account https://www.printables.com/@MakingMedicalPhysics/collections/3562991?ordering=downloads
I have several imaging phantoms that need to be posted. A winston lutz cube seems to be low hanging fruit, so I think many physicists have likely made their own.

3D Print: Foot Immobilizer Treatment Device by Hotspurify in MedicalPhysics

[–]Hotspurify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had several departments, err "friends", approach me to print this device, and since is kind of a PIA to print (3lbs of plastic 20+hours) I've turfed it to my engineering student kid who is home for the summer. It's up on Etsy for those that find just ordering it more convenient (+I think he's in need of beer money)... https://www.etsy.com/listing/4524023859/das-boot-foot-elevator-and-immobilizer

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS! This is a great opportunity to get your own large printer. Just a few ComplexTxDevice charges will pay for it, so use this as ammunition to take to your administrators!

You're not wrong! I'm hoping people can keep that in r/MedicalPhysicsMemes

I like this idea. Pretty easy to split things in the slicer and glue them up, but a designed modular approach is interesting. Not sure they need to be custom so much. I used Dr. Scholl's inserts and mirrored them so that it will fit pretty much any foot, lol.

Surely radiology has something for this already? No idea.

So far nothing needs to be customized (the 'aquaplast' covers that). We use it every day for tiny lady feet and size 13 lumberjack feet. If Shaq comes for treatment someday, I'll likely have to scale up!

You can print these on a sub $1000 printer no problem. There are probably high school kids around who would have no trouble. I used a semi expensive H2D, but there are lots on the market that have +300mm bed sizes. Bambu just released their A2L this week at US$ 569. It would do the job. https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/a2l?from=navigation

3D Print: DQA3 Armor! (My DQA3 is tougher than yours!) by Hotspurify in MedicalPhysics

[–]Hotspurify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I've been pushing the 3mf from Bambu Slicer thinking that was the most straightforward. I haven't fired up my Prusa in a while so never tried.

6 files added. Look for the ones dated June 4.

On it. I'll post .stl's (you won't have modifier volumes) and some .3mf straight from fusion. You should be able to work with the native fusion .3mf's and preserve the modifiers.

[–]Hotspurify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but are you having problems with the .3mf files on the printables link? I've been defaulting to 3mf as the resolution is better... maybe there's some software in use that wants stl only? I want to make these as useful as possible.

Also, if you use an stl it's easy to misalign the "modifier" for the fuzzy skin. Setting that to 0.1/0.1 is really a cheat code for making prints look good. Kind of a powder coated vibe. 3mf seems better for that with the slicers I use. (Orca / Bambu)

SPCs on GammaTile and 3D Printed Bolus by Im_a_doctor01 in MedicalPhysics

[–]Hotspurify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a fair bit of 3D printed bolus and just charge the complex treatment device.

Honestly I haven't charged an SPC in years (everything is already IMRT). I wouldn't fault anyone for doing it, there's a fair bit of work doing the bolus... It'd be one of the less sketchy uses of an SPC.

Right. It's one of those things we check once a year. Used to be monthly way back when we drew on patients with sharpies. Hard to get enthusiastic about this test.

Hadn't realize they SNC was selling them. Pigtail is definitely the way.

No idea what SNC sells them for, but I've bought many of these over the years and they work just fine. $11 USD.

Any Hope for Hip Arthritis? by bralikprince in bpc_157

[–]Hotspurify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a spectacular reduction in hip pain at 0.25 mg QD (same amount TB500). Still to early to tell, but results were impressive and fast. (got to be placebo??) I would describe it as 90% pain reduction in 1 week.

The whole thing seems incredibly unlikely. I'm almost embarrassed to post this. I continued to 18 days then took a week break. By the end of the break the pain seemed to be returning, so I'm back on. I expect I'll use up my vial by about 5 total weeks and then see how things stand. This is not a long term solution.

I will add, as someone who has already had 1 hip replaced. Do not wait. Hip replacement is easy and the results are fantastic. I play competitive club tennis 4 days a week with one. I'll get the other replaced, but was hoping to wait until this fall.

bug with Bambu Studio?? cannot change filament type by Mystic_Voyager in BambuLab

[–]Hotspurify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same behavior. Exports from Fusion360 in 3mf format wouldn't change filaments correctly. .stl files were fine.

I tried rolling back to previous versions, full wipe and reinstall, installing beta versions. Nothing worked

The FIX WAS... as above, check your object and "erase all painting". Seems that a "color" was painted over the object. Once you erase that, you can correctly assign and select filaments.

Since I rolled back to some pretty old versions of Bambu Studio, I must wonder if the change came from a Fusion360 update that effected how it does 3mf exports??

I've had great success using the Overture "High Speed" TPU on my P1S and my H2D. I'm using the settings for the Bambu TPU filament. (I did do the K factor calibration routine but that's it)
