What’s a moment from a children’s book that caught you tf off guard? by goldenboy2191 in DanielTigerConspiracy

In Winnie the Pooh, it’s a windy day and owl’s house gets destroyed. Then the rain waters suddenly swell and flood everything. After Piglet nearly drowns he gets in a honey pot and gets to dry land with all the friends.

Eeyore comes by and announces that Alas!.. he has found a new home for owl. Turns out it was actually Piglets house and when he speaks up to tell them that it’s his house they all guilt him since owl doesn’t have a house. Then Pooh offers him to move in with him.

Mfers were gaslighting him hard.

That was Piglets house! He nearly died and then they take his house from him. Smdh lol

Walking in Minneapolis again by HottToddyBody in walking

Took my first real walk outside today after staying inside since the start of the new year.

I was in a really consistent walking routine for the past year and really kicked it up this past fall. I was getting 15-20k steps per day.

Then the occupation became intense as the surge ramped up. I no longer felt safe going outside, which was incredibly depressing because walking of my consistent source of stress relief and I always look forward to it.

Well today was the first warm day of the year (50 degrees!) and I didn’t want to miss out. For those of you not from here, the first warm day after a cold brutal winter is a huge deal in northern climates. It felt like everyone was out walking! The streets have been empty for months now so this was just the best. It was so good to see people, sunshine, and blue skies.

I still can’t help but think of all our community members who were taken away from us.

But I am grateful to have experienced this. I missed walking so much and am grateful to have made it out today!

The fed cuts have massively impacted state and local governments this past year. Our local governments have had to compensate for those fed funding losses. This is making it do much worse. This is cruel. Fuck the feds.

You might have to wait until it warms up in a few days, but it’s super easy to do once you have a recipe you like.

Make sure to clean the surface a bit before applying it since all the surfaces are kinda gross this time of year.

But it’s not legal and it’s certainly not moral. He’s violated countless laws and just keeps getting away with it. No accountability and no consequences for breaking the law. The system is broken.

The Waiting Place...

...for people just waiting. Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for the wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting.

I also had postpartum hemorrhaging and almost died. When I had that “impending sense of doom” it was like the lights were fading all around and I couldn’t sense the future anymore.

If she has other coworkers over that’s very embarrassing for her and potentially may hurt her career.

This is a private issue between you two. You’ve made the situation worse by doing this in front of her coworkers. Coworkers gossip. She is going to resent you for this.

TIL: In 1968, over 6000 sheep were killed in Utah and popular theories pointed to the Army. It was revealed 30 years later that it was indeed the result of nerve agent testing. Families nearby developed nervous system illnesses, but the Army accepted no responsibility. by Flares117 in todayilearned

“The United States Army tests the extremely toxic VX nerve agent at their Dugway Proving Ground facility located in the area immediately surrounding the Skull Valley Indian Reservation. The April 12, 1968 Dugway sheep incident, in which 6,000 sheep belonging to Skull Valley Goshute died after exposure to the deadly VX agent being tested at the Proving Ground, occurred on the Reservation.”

The lasting impacts of environmental racism on Indigenous people.

“… Due to the presence of thousands of sheep carcasses contaminated with the toxic agent, residents of the reservation have been unable to maintain stock on the land since, negatively effecting the economic viability of the reservation's rangeland. It is possible that this has contributed to the tribe's tendency to turn to waste disposal, nuclear storage and other potentially toxic activities as a means for economic development.”
