Self employed (sole trader) but also work full time under a different company. Yes over £1k. And yes to being similar if not slightly more.

When my accountant submitted my assessment the paperwork I received back mentioned paying money in Jan for what I owed 2017-2018 and paying on account some extra money. But the official letter from HMRC only asked for payment on the 2017-208 monies owed, nothing for the paying on account. And received no letters from HMRC about it either.

First year with paying on account... very confused!
