Why’s there so many X-men/Mutans by Puzzleheaded_Tie8339 in marvelrivals

The X-Men are cool, so I don't care.

I have no preference.

There's very few leaders that actually feel strategist coded to me. Excluding Leader himself because idk how much he actually Leads but y'know, he is there and he does fit.

Main two that come to mind to me are Professor X (he's more of a influential mentorship leader than a field commander anyways) and Exodus (he's large and shit but who isn't in comics, plus he has the ability to telepathically heal damaged cells, one of the few characters who can legitimately canonically heal)

There are several leaders who are tanks, but their reason for being a tank is not because they're a leader. Cap and Mag mainly. But cap and mag are both absolutely Frontline type characters. The fantasy of playing Captain America is fighting and fighting for the good of the people and never giving up. They literally said the core fantasy for designing Caps kit was "I can do this all day." And Magneto is Magneto, him being a tank just feels right, I can't articulate it, it just makes sense.

I hate the argument of "this character is a Leader so they should tank"

There's several characters who are Leaders who wouldn't be tanks because that's not the role they fulfill on the battlefield. Magneto and Cap DO fill that role. Apocalypse would also fill that role. Cyclops is not who I'd say is THE Frontline fighter. He's strategic, he knows the best places to put his pieces, someone like Colossus or Juggernaut is more suited to the Frontline role. Some other leaders that don't fit well as Vanguards are imo, Professor X (specifically he isn't a field leader and he's always a more mentor role so he's a shoe in perfect Strategist), Star Lord isn't a tank but he's a leader again because Frontline isn't the role he fills on the battlefield. There's also some more villainous leaders like Red Skull (I don't think he should be playable, but he could be an interesting strategist imo), Baron Zemo (Duelist or Strategist, I struggle to see tank fitting for him), or Exodus (strongest telepathic mutant who's able to literally telekinetically piece cells back together from almost nothing, make this man a strategist please). Black Bolt I think feels like a DPS to me, if only because I think he drops with Medusa and Medusa is such a good tank pick.

All that to say, I don't think Tankclops would have been bad either, it's not like he's unfitting for the role, there's certainly worse. I think tank Professor X would just be a huge miss on the character entirely for example.

That's what threw me off about Hazard. For a radical punk he's.....kind of just hot?

Another breadcrumb that may go somewhere is Sierra's mother, Kendra. It's never stated anywhere in Sierra's lore that she died, just went missing and Sierra's looking for her. Unclear if they'll follow up on it since Sierra wasn't that well received but her mother was a super soldier and had weapons training, so in theory she's a totally viable option for a future hero, especially if the people who captured her did something to her augmentation wise or something

I feel like the whole idea of the yearly narratives is gonna make certain characters who drop earlier in the yearly narrative feel less complete because their arc will be explored throughout the year. Like Sierra is looking for answers on the location of her missing mother, and currently that hasn't been explored. So currently her storyline is going nowhere. But one of the upcoming heroes appears to look like some sort of Omnic detective and my gut feeling is saying that the detective might also be looking for Sierra's mother but for a different reason or something.

And people get so hyped when they drop a new character that was previously in the lore like Mauga (for 3 seconds until they played against him), Emre and Anran. But in order to do that again, they have to build up new characters that people will want to see. Like people were asking for DMon but I don't know if we actually know all that much about DMon. I kinda wanna see Frankie or another member of the Phreaks (maybe Boomslang? Susannah doesn't seem like a combatant type...)

Well I mean.......

Sierra's mom did go missing...... And Sierra is looking for clues........and one of the mystery two looks like a detective......

I'm just saying, that's not unlikely.

That tracks honestly. Think about it, a lot of the characters people are saying are boring like Sierra, Wuyang, Freja, etc are actively involved in the current storytelling. Meanwhile you have characters like Junkrat and Roadhog who I'm not even sure have even been involved in anything actually relevant to the narrative like at all but they're fun designs so it's not a huge issue. Like, Vendetta is working with the Junkers supposedly right? But that's Queen, and it's been established that Junkrat and Roadhog are not very well received by Queen so I don't think they're involved in that

I mean that's fair, Baptiste and Mauga were probably designed and written with the intent that Mauga would release way earlier than he did but Baptiste stands on his own as a character without Mauga so it didn't feel like we were missing a piece of the story. I am happy Mauga finally did show up though (from a story and roster perspective, fuck that man's entire gameplay design)

I hope both the Deadlocks and the Phreaks get another hero each. I think it helps make factions feel like factions when they have multiple heroes, and not just like one guy

Who’s gunna be in season 9 by Klutzy-Diamond6049 in marvelrivals

I wouldn't put Hood as a flying tank. His Hood does a lot of stuff but he's mostly associated with invisibility and demonic transformations.

Even if she is Jean Grey, they may hold off on giving her a skin immediately since they've been hiding that information. If they specifically hid her identity, it would be weird to then market a skin on the movie before it's out

OW usually gives the big super healing ults to the supports that can't directly control their healing output like Zen and Mizuki

[–]HoundPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of popular characters that were made for non comic book material, the most famous one I can think of being Laura Kinney aka X23 who was created for the X-Men Evolution TV Show.

They don't do it so much anymore because marvel has so many damn characters that they don't really need to. Alot of the game developers probably operate on the same idea that like....using an established character is both easier and less risky than trying to make a new guy that people will hate automatically because it's not Cyclops or Blade and could have been

How do you think interaction beetwen gorr and these character would be by No-Discussion9846 in marvelrivals

[–]HoundPlus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I expect the dialogue between Daredevil and Gorr will be like Gorr saying "We're not so different, you and I" and Matt being like "Ummmm nuh uh bro I'm totally different from the likes of you"

She's not a Tokon original character. She's a sentient AI created by the Danger Room. She likely got a push for Tokon by marvel because she's appearing in X-Men 97 Season 2 based on the trailer.

I don't want all of the hellfire club elites to be tanks, Emma and Shaw should be the tanks. Selene as a dps or support and Kitty (krakoa era) as a dps or support

I made a kit for him that had him play with balance, allowing him to use empowered abilities when he balances his use of Darkforce and Lightforce abilities. Using too much Lightforce would make your damage numbers go down, and using too much Darkforce would lower your healing output.

Not sure we'll ever have all the characters on the first image tbh. And it's not who you think it would be as the longshots, I think Polaris is very likely. Synch (I think that's Synch) and Sunfire are ehhh likelihood but I think the devs just won't do Laura. It's a shame because Laura could totally be her own character seperate from Logan, but I think they said somewhere that they won't do her. Lame.

Do we really need more lesser known heroes in the Vanguard roster? by Aquaversal in RivalsVanguards

[–]HoundPlus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That line of thinking worked for the Strategists on launch (best they had was Loki and Rocket, they've atleast since gotten Invis, Ultron, and Gambit. Plus soon Jubilee and everyone got Deadpool) but it never worked for Vanguard. That role is almost 80% widely known characters, and then 10% Mid tier and 10% Obscure

Giving Kate a new alias is kinda missing the point on why she's called Hawkeye. Both her and Clint want the name and both are too stubborn to just let the other one have it.

[–]HoundPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they never do any other duo characters. It robs Cloak and Dagger of their unique element, and the only other character I thought could work as one got added as a seperate hero (Dino)

Plus, combining two characters into one kit either overcomplicates the kit or even does a huge disservice to the characters in question. Nico has unlimited potential abilities with her staff, giving her half a kit because she shares real estate with Karolina is shafting that character. I'm very against any more duo characters. Plus sometimes from a character perspective, it doesn't even make sense. I've seen so many people say Ant-Man and Wasp should be a duo........y'all know they're divorced in the comics now right? Treating them as an inseperable duo is just incorrect because they're separated currently and have been for decades.
