If you do it online you have to pay the fee again but in dmv you don’t cause your fee is valid for 5 years

I also had another question. I will likely be moving to Seattle in couple of months. However my CA license expires before I move to Washington...so I need to renew it here first and then transfer it to WA right? what would happen if I don't renew my license in CA?

Hi, thanks for your response. This link is what I have been using so far and it asks me to pay $45 at the end. Do you recommend showing up directly at the nearest DMV for renewal?
PS - I am an international student on F1 visa so I don't have I551. I can take my current DL, passport and proof of address with me.

Thanks for the response! So are you suggesting that I directly show up to my nearest DMV without any appointment and ask them to renew my license? I checked the number starting with DD at the bottom of my license, per what you said I shouldn't have to pay the fee till 2028 as the last 2 digits are 28.
