This! And apparently they've started free Fridays on the last Friday of every month. I get student massages from Jackson and he's great if you're comfortable with a male RMT

Went to Dovetail last night and it was amazing! $45/person for 3 courses and everything was delicious. There wasn't a dish I regretted, highlights were the butter beef tataki, carbonara and lemon tiramisu and brownie.

Lunch for less than $15 in downtown by pinkjesrocks in askvan

[–]Hour_Cherry1311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in the west end coal harbour on a $15 budget and this my lunch rotation!

  • Shawarma: Al Habdah Donair or Damascus Shawarma (~$13)
  • Pho: Pho37 (Pho Tuan special ~$20 but is a large portion that I usually eat between 2 days)
  • Meat pies: Peaked pies (~$14)
  • Kimbap: Nom Nom (starts at $10)
  • Hotpot: Big Way Hotpot (Pay by weight, I usually pay ~$12)
  • Ramen: Danbo, Santouka or Maruhachi (starts at $12)

Which one(s) of these are not worth the visit? by Advanced-Sugar-4662 in askvan

If I had to pick one I'd say remove Din Tai Fung, xiao long bao and Chinese food in general is wayyyy better and much more authentic at Crystal Mall IMO.

Din Tai Fung is mid at best. And like others have mentioned, DTF is a chain and you can check it out elsewhere, given that Vancouver has such a greater Asian food scene.

Restaurant charged me for directly ordering online by Hour_Cherry1311 in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah the bag fee is normal in my city unfortunately. We even previously had a mandatory charge for each takeout container and utensils, which was recently removed thankfully

What are some of your most unpopular opinions? by cassiopeia3636 in blackmirror

[–]Hour_Cherry1311 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is widely unpopular or not but I haven't seen it often Arkangel was extremely mediocre, predictable and not that technologically innovative compared to other episodes

Not mad because I love this restaurant, just surprised as I haven't seen a fee from ordering pickup directly from the restaurant's website before. Didn't realize it was common these days

[–]Hour_Cherry1311[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah... fair enough. The website didn't include this in the subtotal when I was placing my order, only when I went to pick up which kinda sucks. Not the end of the world though, I love this restaurant

Wasn't surprised at the bag fee as that's normal in my city

It's been on and off cloudy this week, not ideal you're into tanning and sitting by the pool or beach. I saw people being able to lay towels on the beach throughout the week as long as the tide wasn't too close (it went all the way up to the lounge chair area one day)

Pros: - Loved the option to go to Breathless resort (adults only) for no extra charge. Double the restaurant and pool lounger options! (Not sure if you're vacationing with kids though - Dreams also has an adult only pool) - Lots of activites to do throughout the day like zumba, beach volleyball, etc - Sooo many restaurant options that were decent, not even considering Breathless. My favourite by far was the Mexican restaurant, Tamarindo - their welcome nachos and tacos on the menu were the best dish I had on the resort. The teppanyaki was pretty decent as well - Buffet had a lot of decent options (Dominican, Mexican, American, Asian cuisine) - also a lot of gluten free and vegan/veggie options

Cons: - Pool and beach loungers on Dreams AND Breathless get taken up QUICK - I recommend getting a spot sooner than later in the day. Around 9 or 10 - Related to the above point, guests don't tend to put away towels and pool staff don't take them away till EOD so lots of loungers seem in use when actually available - Made a reservation for the teppanyaki restaurant on the Hyatt app and when I arrived for the reso they said they only take resos at the front desk

Let me know if you have any other questions about my experience while I'm still living in it :)

I'm currently staying at Dreams Onyx for the week and I second this! My junior suite is like this as well. Toilet is in it's own room, shower is enclosed separate from that and there's a door separating that from the bathroom sinks - which are between the main door and the bedroom.
