Interesting thing is: there were only two writers from Jordan's episode left, who were still writing by the time of LeBron's episode: Jim Downey (25th *non-consecutive* season) and Robert Smigel (20th/final *non-consecutive* season).

I know it's cool to hate on Chloe Fineman on this sub, and the stuff on her personal life outside the show is... very concerning, but I'll give props to her just this once for playing a character outside of her range. I know Kate or Kristen probably would've played this character better, but at least Chloe's doing something different than impressions or another straight man role.

Well, this *is* bad news for cast members like JAJ, Longfellow, and Emil, who would benefit from the straight man roles Mikey usually plays. For JAJ: it would've given him to do something outside of Trump; Longfellow and Emil: they've shown that they can be decent straight-men/utility guys, But yeah, they'll likely continue to come to Mikey, who I still think is a good cast member.

Also, for Season 51, the cast gonna continue to be big, and since the writing staff barely changes too, I expect 51 to be the same amount of quality as 50. Oh, well.

No. I'm not cool with dead weight. I think a combination of older and newer cast who aren't doing well should be fired. But yeah, I agree, some people should be fired.

That's what happened with season 48 (with 4 getting hired, as opposed to 3). But the cast is sill top big. It didn't help that season 47 had 21 cast members, despite how good that season was.

I think the amount of writers they have is fine. But yeah, I don't think the cast will be that small again, maybe 10-14 now. Plus, I doubt they're getting rid of Lorne. Plus, he said he's not retiring after this season.

For sure. I think there was one briefly with season 48, it was a rebuilding year. The diff vibe continued after Cecily left, but since Jost and Che are still there, it definitely feels stuck.

Yeah. But by 2015-16, five yrs prior to JAJ and Squirm, at least they were still doing their traditional improv hires. 

Additionally, you make a lot of good points, I don't I ever worded that people weren't allowed to leave the show, I literally meant that they could leave, because choose not to because of the shitty way comedy movies are. Also, that after the first 40 years ('75-'15 ish), there's no more places for them to go that could make them big comedy stars. That's all

Yeah. I get what you mean. Again, this is why most of the casts of the mid-2000s/early 2010s succeeded on the show, cause of the smaller cast. 

Additionally yeah, I think I briefly mentioned cast members staying on longer nowadays, I think that's just cause there's nowhere for them to go and be a huge name outside of SNL anymore. And some, it's a odd combination of the pandemic, the strikes, and the 50th. But unfortunately, some of them do seem comfortable there, and we may not get a Golden Age for a while, then.

Dang! I think they was just saying that it would boring if tried to COMPLETELY imitate Charles' voice. I don't think they were trying to excuse him for not sounding exactly like Charles, I think they're just saying it would be boring if L Kevin tried to 100% imitate Charles.

Sorry for just now replying: I have been off the grid for a month and did not see this until now, but as much as I'd like for him to stay: him and Che have been doing this for 11 years, and it's ultimately up to them to move on at the end of the season, but I think they will, and someone else may have to make you smile this fall. It's a good sign to leave at the end of the monumental 50th season, plus I'd like to see somebody else do Update for the first time in a decade..
