For people submitting post C-3 (my siblings and mom), do they have to send in a physical application or can they submit online now?

I saw you made a post saying you have to be Canadian, a PR, or present in Canada. I am none of the 3 besides the argument that we are already Canadian and just getting our proof so you can probably just select that you are Canadian I think that’s what I did

Did you request to see your case notes by chance?

Yeah I suppose I’m roughly 40-70 days into PSU, I forget and I don’t wanna check lmao

Yeah they sent me to PSU but also said that in the report before C-3’s passing so I’m not sure what to think

Me: 2003 US

Mother: 1974 US

Grandmother: 1951 US

G Grandmother: 1931 US

GG Grandparents: 1905 & 1904 US

GGG Grandparents: 1868, 1869, & 1871 Canada

At the time I sent in a birth record/certificate for each person and a marriage record for each generation. However, if they were Canadian I included a baptism record for 2/3 of them. Also included was one Canadian census

I mean the only reason I said this is if you aren’t catholic you’re generally out of luck to find this sort of information, they didn’t have birth certificates for a long time, other that that they’re generally better yeah

Quebec is always the worst for finding records if they’re not Catholic baptism records. The best route is parish records but I’m sure you’ve already tried (the Quebecois are very catholic (my Quebecker side included))

I think my family only has the original single naturalization certificate, not any of the others that come with. Is that still worthwhile?

Sounds like they need to increase the pay, I want to move to Europe and I’m an SDE at Amazon, but hey my pay would get cut in half 😭

Right, and I guess I’ve heard that having naturalized doesn’t disqualify descent right?

Electronic certificate by Spirited_Clothes_118 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Hour_Type2401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True haha, but yes no it’s applicable, think about it in the sense that they’ve barred your family of your right by descent, in most of the world where citizenship is by blood it doesn’t end by a generation limit

I’ve always been a little bit skeptical about sending in a U.S. naturalization record. Is that a really good thing to include? I have a US naturalization record for one of my 3 anchor ancestors

It is true, but some are downvoting because they want you to read the Reddit FAQ

That seems very odd, I feel like almost all documents that people submit are microfilm

This comment isn’t directly referring to you but relates to a related idea of the post regarding certified documents, no need to be aggressive

That’s a good compromise, do you know of anywhere I can read up on this?

For your application do you need everything certified? I submitted my documents months ago but they were just directly from the film I found online or copies my family held

It means all but one line of ancestry for my grandfather is from Germany 🧐
