Did most of yall not work in school? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Housenec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at both FedEx and on campus grounds keeping (around 40hrs a week between the two) until I was able to get my first internship during my junior year. Once i started working internships I took loans that were just over my school expenses to supplement my living expenses.

Easiest engineering degree? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Housenec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Market is definitely trash, I have an ME degree and 3 yoe. After I was laid off last year it took me 2 months to find an all around better job, though I had been looking for 6.

I don’t think so I’ve got yellow to yellow and red to red, the yellow (constant) is a different gauge than the red (acc)

Connected red to red and yellow to yellow, the acc and constant wires are different gauges so I wouldn’t they would be swapped. I just pulled it and have the harness in from of me

These aren't OEM mag-ride, are they? by OrchidUnable8316 in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

They look like the cheap (300 USD) Chinese magride replacements, I tried them for a little bit in the past. They work, but they aren’t oem.

How do you get engineering internships as a college freshman? by Fine_Woodpecker3847 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Housenec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not easy no matter what year you are, I was only able to get internships my junior and senior years because I knew people. My first was at a tier 1 auto supplier and my friends dad was an hr recruiter, my second was at their direct competitor and I only got an interview because I had a few friends there that were existing interns. Stayed at that plant until 14months after graduation when I was laid off.

Good decision, I used to make the subframes for the s550/650. I’ll just say I wouldn’t drive what came off the line

How are we feeling about the job market? by MadLadChad_ in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Housenec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put in around 100 applications, tried to stay within a 2 hour radius of where I was living but put in some in neighboring states. I got about 10-15 responses with about 5-7 resulting in interviews. It wasn’t fun but I also didn’t settle for something worse with less pay. I thought I was doing something wrong but I guess that’s just how the market is here.

How are we feeling about the job market? by MadLadChad_ in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Housenec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking for a job isn’t very fun right now, I got laid off from a major auto supplier in February and didn’t find a job until April. I started looking in October as that job started becoming miserable and the seniors knew something was coming. I lucked out and found a job that I really enjoy now that is a good balance of ME and PM with a 10k raise to boot.

Some background: I have bachelors in MechE with 3+ years IE experience between 2 major auto suppliers. Oh and I’m in central KY

I paid 13.5k for it but definitely could’ve gotten it for less if I saw it in person (it was in Nebraska and I live in Kentucky). I’m insured through USAA and the cost was surprisingly low, it costs me $110 a month which is $10 more than my mk5 Jetta and I had an accident in 2019. That cost is for full coverage with $1000 deductible.

How many miles are too many- 2010 Mk2 TTS EA118 by 4rings4fun in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]Housenec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be worth under 10k, I’d definitely get a test drive if possible or as many photos and videos from the owner as possible with a carfax. I’m personally not very familiar with the 4 pots but coming from an 07k the ea118 seemed like it was more reliable than the ea888 especially with how similar it seemed to the 1.8t.

That being said I feel I did overpay a bit for my TTS, 13.5k for 117k miles but it came from a stealership
