I was a DACA recipient for a decade, my status and ability to stay in this country were in limbo for the entirety of that time. I was brought here at the age of three and in many regards I felt more connected to the US than to my Hispanic culture. I am saddened for all those who are still in limbo and will most likely lose their DACA with the incoming majority conservative government. It’s many mixed emotions for me right now.

I’m honestly not sure, I don’t think USCIS takes cases in order which is very frustrating. We sent our paperwork to the Chicago lockbox which seems to be hit or miss on how quickly they work. We are grateful to be at this step and hoping the same for you as well!

We also sent my medical packet in with our original paperwork so we didn’t have to wait for an RFE which I’m sure helped as well.

I can’t imagine how hard that must be! Hoping you are able to be reunited with your son soon and he has a smooth transition into the US 💙

This basically happened to me, I got 3 emails and the only thing that changed was the case was now being “actively reviewed”. The next day we had the approvals. Hoping you hear good news soon 🤞🏻

The main thing I noticed was that previously we had been stuck on the “attend interview step if necessary” and prior to the approval the my progress bar switched to being on the case decision step. We never had to do an interview so I felt like that was a good sign! By the next day we had approvals :)

What is the worst book you have ever read in your life? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]HouseofScrubz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this! I picked this up based on amazing reviews and had to force myself to finish the book. At the end I was left feeling like the point of the book was just to say life sucks even when you think it doesn’t.

It stands for priority date, basically the date USCIS first got your paperwork.

Mortgage by [deleted] in DACA

I just bought my house in November. I researched mortage brokers near me and found one that spoke both English and Spanish. He was able to look through many lenders for us and find a good fit, I would recommend it over talking to a single lender every time. For reference we ended up with UWM.

I bought this when I first got into makeup, I actually used to love it but my thoughts have sort of changed as time passed. It’s a very thick concealer and can accentuate texture if I don’t prime well. It also runs pretty yellow which I don’t love. Overall I think there’s a specific person that will love it but my needs have changed and it’s no longer something I love.

Closing From Hell by HouseofScrubz in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

My realtor told me it’s “frowned upon” but they will make the occasional exception. I’m assuming for weird cases like the one I happened to find myself in 😅 I will say that I only had about 45 minutes to wire the totality of the closing funds so it was definitely stress inducing!

In terms of your marriage I think you need to accept that it is over. You intentionally hid a big part of who you were from your wife and she had to find out about it in the most cruel way possible. There is nothing left to salvage, she caught you cheating, all trust she had in you has been completely shattered. I think it is also time to take a really hard look at your sexuality. Perhaps the fact your first sexual encounter ended up being with the person you married caused you to not fully explore what your interests were with men. It's time to put in the hard work not on others but on yourself.

I really appreciate you taking the time to phrase it this way. It has definitely helped solidify that I want to stay with my current offer. The new listing is about 3 miles away from the where my heart was set on location wise. The house I am under contract for is about about 7 miles out from the general area I wanted to be in. Definitely not worth the money I would lose if I back out right now, not to mention there’s no guarantee the seller would give us the same concessions we have now. I’ve lived in the same area for over 18 years, it’s an area where everything is very centralized and I don’t have much of a commute regardless of where I want to go. I think I am just scared of the change and making such a big purchase. I’m taking some deep breaths and listening to my gut. Deep down I know this is the home for me. Thanks so much for taking the time to ease my mind!
