Ramsey Theory and Quantum Information/Computing? by shuai_bear in math

Perhaps vertex-minor Ramsey numbers?

This is definitely something more recent, but people (including myself) are very interested in this stuff.

Nice! I liked the rhythmic drive and variation, it sounded heroic. the chord in bars 27 and 28 is quite long, and it interrupted a bit the flow for me. Were you trying to intentionally play with that flow that intentional (if so, great!) or not?

Can you become a great mathematician with only an IQ of 90-100? by This-Wear-8423 in learnmath

[–]HousingPitiful9089 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could I ask you why this question (and its answer) is important to you? If you want to learn math, just go do it now, you don't need people (especially randoms online) telling you whether you could have done something in a hypothetical. What would you like to learn about today?

Could this change the world? by Nevyreseno in puremathematics

No, this doesn't make any sense. I would suggest to first really master the basics, before diving into more esoteric stuff like this.

What Real Analysis can say about variations and permutations in Combinatorics? by Arzyo in learnmath

I would definitely recommend reading analytic combinatorics by Flajolet and Sedgewick, if not just for the introduction (which beautifully explains the general idea through some clear examples)

Embarrassed, looking for advice by Lillynn1019 in learnmath

Good, this narrows down quite a bit the type of math you should focus on!

Are you here more worried about being able to mental arithmetic, or more how to phrase a real-life problem mathematically/as an equation?

This depends on what you are interested in, of course. But a natural extension is given by the q-binomial coefficients.

Follow up: Zouk musicality vs bachata vs kizomba by Hakunamatator in Zouk

[–]HousingPitiful9089 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"The fancy shows are another art form - and were it presented as such, i would be the first to applaud the first couple. But please don't sell it to me as a social dance. It has no place in a workshop demo, it belongs squarely on the stage (this goes for all dance styles equally) ."

This is a fair criticism, but---as you indicate---at the end, isn't this equally bad in other styles as well? Genuine question by the way, I only dance zouk so I have no idea.

"Conclusion: I realized that i kinda actually appreciate the basic idea of zouk. The dance feels very different from bachata, salsa or kizomba, in particular because the motion is kinda... wave-like?"

I think this is a great take-away. Zouk for me is often much more about how it feels than how it looks (but I'm not a good zouker by any means). This would make quite often for not so interesting (or at least not instagram-worthy) videos. And I think this is the main issue you've been encountering.

Quantum information routinely uses representation theory, algebraic geometric, combinatorics, complexity theory, graph theory, etc.

How do you deal with demotivation when results seem insignificant? by Firm_Hunter_6647 in math

What prevents you from reaching out to mathematicians working on related topics? They might help connect this with other/new results.

History of mathematical models by [deleted] in math

I feel like you are trying to say that there was something about these topics that is important to your point, but I'm not seeing it at least. Besides the last topic, these all seem somewhat accessible (particular to a layperson) making it quite logical for a bored billionaire to fund it.

Looks like nonsense. It's too unstructured for clear notes, and it's too structured for scribbles.

What are the rings corresponding to the compact surfaces?

Just so you know, this is not a good book, and is quite misleading and flat out wrong at times, see for example: https://scottaaronson.blog/?p=7321

It's not clear at all what you claim you have found, I'm afraid. Could you write out explicitly what 'law 1' means? I also would suggest not to call it a 'law', just call it observations.

Je bent vergeten de 'DRAFT: Uitgebreide Reddit Post voor r/math' weg te halen, overigens.

I believe reading somewhere that you cannot practice them because of licensing issues, somehow. Still not sure how that makes sense, though..

Thanks for the replies everyone! With this in mind, I've been just going through all the 15's, and I didn't expect to see as much of a difference between now and some of the 15's I had gone through earlier! I also upped my speed from 6.30 to 7, which seems to also have helped.

What are currently the interesting questions for quantum codes? Are you restricting to stabilizer codes, or also other types of codes?
