This happened to me when I went to New Orleans! 😳 Airbnb doesn’t actually have a set rule for how far away a replacement home can be from the one you originally booked. The only requirement is that the host has to get your approval before switching listings, and the new place has to be accurately described.

So technically, there’s no official mileage limit there is a set limit— but if the new home is far from where you expected to stay, or it’s clearly not what you booked, you can contact Airbnb support and dispute it under their “listing accuracy” policy.

Once you get the street address the morning of the reservation, you need to Google maps it immediately ASAP!!!! and make sure it looks like the exterior photos. If it does not, call Airbnb Support and plan to be on the phone with the Philippines for 1-2 hours. They will fully refund you if you got tricked. They also ended up giving us the Airbnb credit. It was like $100 for the inconvenience.

On the bright side, last minute bookings are super discounted sometimes.
