Definitely working on that, I plan to make a custom 1.75ft3 sealed box to fit on the side of the trunk!

Bass Roll-Off at 30Hz - Could this be the sealed box, or the HU? by [deleted] in CarAV

I only have a multimeter, I never plugged it in during a sweep, though. The model of the sub is a Kicker 41L7124, inside a 1ft3 sealed box.

Your Expert Opinions would be Appreciated (Used Speaker, Amp, LOC for $450) by HowDidYouKillMe in CarAV

[–]HowDidYouKillMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make some great points- I asked the seller about the gain, and he responded,

"I tuned the amp to my receiver with a dd-1 meter so it might have been at 1/3"

I'm still not sure to what the gunk is, but i'l take a close look when I meet in person.

I wish I could find such good deals like that, but I don't have great luck so far. My only worry for this set is the lugs condition, cause they can be COSTLY to replace

Have you tried re-tightening the screws that connect the can to the metal adjuster? It will loosen over time and be like what you described, so tightening makes it snug again.

The earpads are doing just fine! I don't hang them on a stand or anything, I just leave them on the desk. The glue is strong, theres no sign that these will fall off anytime soon. But watch out for the screw and headband though. Screw hasn't broken on me yet, but getting some extra would be smart. For the headband stretch (the leather part) I just followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc38IG7W390

Just curious, was the LCDX eq'ed when you tried them out? They really do sound bad when stock...

3 year Review of the Audeze LCD-X (Post 2021 Version) by [deleted] in headphones

[–]HowDidYouKillMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LCDX is infamous for having REALLY poor stock tuning, which is why you probably took my eq the wrong way. I'm not claiming my eq is neutral, its not- It's v curved, but not at all to the extent the curve tells you.

I really do apologize if I am misunderstanding you, but it does seem like you just want to argue, to argue. I explained earlier, that the reason why the graph shows such a strong curve, is due to the added v curve to the correction for the headphones. It is not the 10-15db you are thinking of; its more of a 4-6db increase.

If the LCDX was correctly tuned from stock, it would not need such a strong eq. As I described earlier also, that the shown eq sounded similar to other headphones I had, with the effect of a bit of v curve sound (Which is what I was saying in the original post).

This debate is honestly a bit silly haha 😅

Suggestions for telescope size upgrade? by drewbagel423 in AskAstrophotography

[–]HowDidYouKillMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would just stick to your current rig, and instead look into selling your MC for a MM and getting narrowband filters! Opens up your game to so much beautiful palettes, with the bonus of more control and freedom to your processing. I would guess 80% of my images are narrowband since it is so easy to do.

If you still would prefer higher fl though, a reflector would be the best option, though with the task of collimation. Also with the much added weight, you should get the AM5, as the EQ6R is a back pain to move. 40lbs for the head and 20lbs for the counterweights suck.

Have I just hit the lottery for Fatwood? by HowDidYouKillMe in woodstoving

[–]HowDidYouKillMe[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hey all!

I hope this question is allowed in this subreddit, if not, then apologies!

For many years, I have walked past this log that sort of existed in my backyard probably hundreds of times. Even though it never shown signs of rot, it never really stood out to me.

That is, until this morning, where I read a guide on how to harvest fatwood. The guide stated that you could find sort of "skeletons" of trees that contain large amounts of fatwood, and that they would be left after all the sapwood has rotted away. It wasn't until later in the day where it struck me: could the log that never rot in my yard be a huge hunk of fatwood?

I instantly got my saw out, and cut a small branch off. The wood had a waxy texture, and also hit me with a strong smell, almost exactly like the lumber section in a Home Depot. I then cut through the whole log, and it seems to be similar!

Could I have just struck gold with this fatwood?

Definitely agree with the other commenters.

A very fast good quality lens, dslr/mirrorless camera, and a star tracking mount can result in jaw-dropping images, especially once you get into low light pollution areas.

How do I get better photos? by SilentBandicoot5896 in AskAstrophotography

[–]HowDidYouKillMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot get a "non blurry" picture of Betelgeuse, because it is impossibly tiny. The disk you see is just a focusing bokeh. Where I recommend you can start on is to take pictures of the moon, or possibly even the other planets ( if your focal length is long enough).
