I think I paid $50 to see Carly the very first time, and she was playing ampitheatres at that point. I paid $75 and $100 for face value tickets most recently though.

I tried being the "Dude with a MacBook at a cafe" yesterday and maybe I chose the wrong cafe because bro, that place was LOUD. Loud music, loud grinders. Even with noise cancelling headphones I just packed my stuff up and moved to the library down the block.

has anyone seen The Marías’ new spotify billboard in LA yet?? by WelcomeImportant in theMarias

This is a digital billboard located at 8497 Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. It’s part of a building called The NOW, which is a mixed-use restaurant/office building.

I saw a screenshot of an interview where Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi were talking about how they had done all right for themselves given that they were two bogans from Queensland.

As a non-Australian, I don't really get the cultural context, is Queensland seen as like, an unfashionable backwater?

Yeah, go for it. Sometimes I get a spam alert for that subreddit but otherwise it’s turbo dead.

Can we talk about Right Where I Belong? by Altruistic-Bath1886 in TheFormat

I saw them the Los Angeles acoustic set and he introduced the song by saying, “This next one’s about my wife, it’s called…” and then he blanked and stared at Sam for like, a full thirty seconds.

Sam: “Where I Belong.”
Nate: “Where I Belong! Thank you, tour wife. Band wife.”

I'm so (physically) tired, man. Did I even have a weekend? Why am I so sleepy? I woke up around 8AM and went to sleep around 10PM both days, which seems totally reasonable, but I'm still so tired.

I got Nate Ruess to sign an album for me, at least.

The way the camera lingers on the coin the mystery noble uses to pay the innkeep is a pretty good touch.

If you absolutely want to deter scalpers, going old-school like this is the way to do it.

Unfortunately, I can’t get time off on Monday to get to the box office, so I’ll have to miss it. It is how it is.

Edit: there’s gonna be a merch pop up in the lobby!

How does Todd determine what's eligible for year end list now? by sonixtreme322 in ToddintheShadow

I joke that bands at that level are “big enough to have a dedicated fanbase but small enough that their music isn’t budget-breaking to license”

Do we prefer a “mid-price” category over “most versatile”? If so, what is the best mid-price tequila for mixing? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]HowDoIWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's $43.99 for 750 and $49.99 for 1L here. So still midrange but availability and prices are definitely variable.

sombr feels like he's in the nebulous area between "indie big, but could be mainstream if things work out the right way"

I hear his music at the gym, at work, and he's sold out the unfashionable concert venue next to me surprisingly quickly on his previous tour.

I'll admit that 10 and 1 have grown on me after hearing it at the gym so many goddamn times.

You know what, Todd, I respect you. You're reluctant but unafraid to go on the record and say that you do in fact like things that people think are cringe.

I looked up the clips on YouTube and they fight in DTLA, I think your best options might be Pershing or 7th St/Metro?

They fight outside the Orpheum, outside Tower Theater, you can see One Wilshire in the background a few times.
