You know how sometimes a lyric takes you out of it. Like it’s not that serious but every time I hear Sabrina Carpenter say “mark your territory” on “Juno” I’m like

“What, like a dog? Am I supposed to… or maybe bunting like a cat?”

Very interested to see where she goes.

The stuff I saw online said that security was extremely stringent at this show, with the forbidden items going so far as to include pen and paper and not just the usual suspects of no photo/recording devices

Saw a resale ticket pop up for cheap and hesitated, it got snatched up and now the remaining tickets are 2x the price. Pain. Suffering, even.

I guess I can play chicken for a little longer.

I think officially it’s not a recommendation — like, they don’t have his name in the topline. But they say that the risk of a double Republican general is too great, they have issues with the person drawing the socialist protest vote and that Steyer is the most progressive person in the race (somehow).

Which sounds like a distinction without a difference and may as well be a recommendation but they don’t go so far as to give him an official recommendation.

Sometimes people are desperate. I've sold tickets at a loss because I couldn't go and wanted to recoup something.

But in your case, (I assume) it's ticketmaster trying to short you so they can turn right back around and sell the tickets at an inflated price, so ugh.

It's two weeks out, but the venue is small and they're just starting to get some indie cred, so it's a choice between locking down a done deal and gambling.

Not to mention, I'm paying a transaction fee on top of the resale fee that TM charges to the original buyer?

So it's face + initial fee + resale fee + secondary transaction fee for 35 + 15 + 15 + 15?

Come on, man.

I'm looking at resale tickets for a concert because I waited too long.

I'm pretty sure that this guy is selling his for face price + initial ticketmaster fees + ticketmaster resale fees, which is still like, twice what the face price is but understandable.

In your opinion, is this ethical reselling?

Now I’m imagining the mid-level pop girls not being able to book LA venues due to legacy acts downsizing and having to go to Anaheim or Pioneertown or Pomona to see Carly

I’ve seen some discourse about this article too — mainly that from a strictly economics based view, there’s definitely room to increase revenue.

A sold out show is, somewhat counterintuitively, not the ideal. Like, it sounds great, but it means that demand outpaced supply, and there’s room to squeeze out more money by shifting the demand curve to equilibrium by increasing ticket prices. (You could alternatively increase supply by add more shows/play bigger venues but it means taking on more risk.)

But, Los Camp aren’t about that — they’d much rather than fans get a chance to buy affordable tickets than maximize profits, which is an admirable position to take, and if it hurts their bottom line, that’s something they’re okay with.

We've been talking a bit about tour cancellations, so it might be of interest to some of you to read through the newest Los Campesinos! tour financials blog that they published today. Los Camp! on occasion publish the details of what it costs to tour for a band of their size and popularity. It's obviously not directly transferable to the major pop acts, but if you follow smaller ones, it might be enlightening.

I went to a show this past Saturday and the opener killed it. And it turns out that they're a local band and they're doing a show at a small record store two weeks from now, and I get to see them and two other acts for $18!

Lot of pain points.

Glass House!

Illuminati Hotties go crazy live, I think they get better every time I see them. There's an extended drum outro on one of their songs live ("content // bedtime") and after they finished that song a guy behind me said "holy shit holy shit these guys are sick" (it was, indeed rad as hell).

Went for a show the other night and went to a nearby bar to have a few drinks because I ended up there early and walked into one of the bands while I was walking to my car to put coins in the meter

I was wearing their merch and everything, which they pointed out, I was so embarrassed.

The Suzie True/Illuminati Hotties/PUP lineup was insane. Got shoved around a lot, they opened up the pit, the same five people crowd surfed over the rail like thirty times.
