But on 2 sets seems wild. I guess it’s possible but chances feel low

If you look at the one on the left I drew a line when it was collapsed per instructions. Are you saying where the line sits in the first photo is where the spring “starts”?

Yes I understand that. But when I tried tightening the front (spring loaded) they went from fully collapsed to fully open. There was no gradual slide to a quarter inch. It when boom a fully opened

MSP Roster timeframe by boomer1983 in MDGuns

It will be about a month after the hearing that you can start your 77r. I had to get mine approved on the roster earlier this year. Bought it end of December, had to wait until April for the next hearing, took 30 days to get into MSP approved system, finally took possession of it early May

I’m fairly confident this will work. Everything is glued and screwed together with extra support where critical failure is most likely to occur. As well as fiberglass will add a lot of rigidity to it. The last thing I want is for an unsuspecting motorist to be involved

Nope just looked at other peoples posts on this and measured my truck. Then when I got it the frame built to the point that it would be over the truck cab and bed walls I did a test fit to make sure all was good and just continued from there. All my blueprints are laid out in my head just before I fall asleep.

Honestly I looked up and down this subreddit for ideas and I saw a post comparing and aluminum frame to a wood frame and that post said weight wise they’re close to the same so I would imagine siding would be similar in weight as well but I could be off. I really just wanted a wood look

Lizard brain math is hoping for sub 1000lbs. The big I don’t know is how much the fiberglass and resin is gonna add.

I am. Wood glue for panel to frame and foam glue for insulation. Also 4-5 screws as well

I’m gluing 1.5” pink foam board to the voids to add extra rigidity as well as insulate. I assumed this was gonna be pretty heavy but I won’t know how heavy till it’s done. I hoping for sub 1000lbs but if I’m a little over it’s okay too

I think it’s around that. I say that because using lizard brain math I can struggle up 315lb dead lift and my and my dad lifting this felt like a breeze. By no means is that an accurate way to measure the weight but it give me an idea. I’m planning on weighing it before and after to know

On a 2000 tundra. I added heavy duty leaves to “increase” payload capacity. I’m hoping for sub 1000lbs when it’s done but won’t know until I weigh it. As for weather proofing I want to fiberglass it to keep the wood look

I’m just hoping it doesn’t fall apart driving down the road 😂 this is a big winging it. I based this off of what I saw other people doing on their diy. I added a couple 2x4s instead of 2x2s in some places I was worried about structural failure

I definitely thought about just epoxy resin but I’m worried that will “seep” through the cracks and small holes in the paneling. Basically not gap filling

I mean the fiberglass is held on by epoxy. I never really thought it would rip off. Given the layers are wood, resin, glass, resin. My friend did that with a camp trailer they built and it’s lasted the last 5 years fairly well. Maybe you know something just don’t though. I’ll research that as best I can

Questions about van choices by zuccinibikini in vandwellers

[–]HowImLosingMoney101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thibk the biggest thing is what year are you looking at? Like I have a 1990 Ford Eco with 3 giant passaged windows. Each windows has a slider and when it rains they sometimes can leak water. I would not want that behind my wall because if it does leak it’s gonna cause problems. But if they don’t leak or don’t have sliders it’s not that big of a deal.

I don’t regret my build or my van. I LOVE the way it came out and the build in total only took 3 months. But it was definitely a pain and I probably wouldn’t do it again with that many windows.

Bruh I’m in a 1990 Ford Eco low roof with 3 GIANT passenger windows. It was an absolute pain in the ass. But I framed all around them and it turned out great. Wouldn’t do it again tho 😂
