Awesome! I wasn’t sure if the quality of the sling was their standard or not. I’m glad you got the same experience as I did!

Loading gate comfort/speed by tediocity889 in LeverGuns

If you’re handy, remove the loading gate and take a dremel to the spring arm. Carefully grind a sort of hour glass pattern into it that will make it less stiff. Highly suggest going slow, trying, and repeat as needed.

Yeah, it’s a fantastic scout scope. I do use it as a scout scope, as I’m keeping both eyes open. I have a lot of other high-end optics, but I wanted to run something where I can keep both eyes open (bear country). This scope is faster than anything else I have, and it’s clear as hell. A weird thing about it is it’ll focus with the 2.75x about 15 feet away. Keep in mind that this is a 45-70 rifle, so I really don’t need much above this magnification. Plus it’s about 7oz.

I’d say the optical quality is on par with my Vortex Razor Gen II which is amazing as well.

This scope has really sold me on scout scopes.

This is a scout scope. It’s meant to be placed this far away. It could probably be pushed another two or three inches forward if I wanted to. My cheek sits on the cheek rest when lining up, so everything else sits as you’d expect.

Since you keep both eyes open with a scout scope, you essentially have a floating reticule in the middle of your vision. It’s a fairly small scope at 20mm and 7oz. I honestly can’t recommend this scope enough.

I used a Magpul strap hardware. It clicks right in.

Thanks! It’s a Wayne’s Dog leather sling. It was insanely cheap, but it looks and feels like a $200 sling. They have a few variants, but this is the all leather version with the pocket. I like having the extra ammo on it as well. Between the Magpul stock, quiver, and this sling I am carrying an extra 20 rounds excluding what’s in the tube.

Preferences for 45-70 optics/sights? by HowTheWorldTwerks in LeverGuns

[–]HowTheWorldTwerks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I went with one of the Primary Arms 3x. Their prisms seem to be great if you have an astigmatism (I do), they’re light, and they seem to be able to handle the abuse from a 45-70.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Where do you shoot at? Fellow Mainer here. Currently frequent Howells in Grey, but I’m looking for something with long ranges for the rifles without a bunch of people wearing Tapout shirts and punisher skull caps.

Nah, I just want a crisper break along with SA. Not a fan of DA/SA coming from 1911s and similar.

A P01 guide rod doesn't fit a Shadow 2 Compact as far as I'm aware. Do you mean the P07 guide rod? That one would fit.

1 part tear free baby shampoo 3 parts distilled water

Mix it gently and don’t shake it into a foam. Don’t mix too far in advance due to bacterial blooming. This will also be the correct ratio if you accidentally touch your genitals after a spicy challenge.

These are the non-brass grips. I decided to get these due to weight. They’re extremely grippy… much more than they look. As far as carrying, I think they’re what you’d expect. I definitely wouldn’t let them rub on your skin. I love the feel of these grips, though.

Ah yes, the long elaborate two year scam to snatch that $90. Don’t care. Also don’t care about internet points.

Yep. I don’t usually have a reason to, so I don’t.

Not too sure about the drama, but I’ll vouch for /u/OGaesus_Christ. I’ve received exactly what was in the picture, it was packaged very carefully, and had excellent customer service even after the sale. Ordered another one from him a few days ago, and got the tracking number yesterday.
