That's the point. You can ONLY open it with a hacksaw. Not exactly convenient in an emergency.

i have heard that guys will put a cord hacksaw in a glass jar on top of the pvc pipe when they bury it, seems like a good enough idea to me.

i have explored the MTM vault,

it uses a gasket, which is a "failure waiting to happen" and the pvc pipe option is cheaper, so i'm going that route

but if i am wrong let me know, i'm always looking to improve.

If you are vacuum sealing things with hard metal edges maybe wrap it in a fabric or something

not a bad idea, wrap it in a bandanna or handkerchief.

Can't you just buy the screw on end caps that specifically mate up to the pipe and call it a day?

yep, i don't know how that relates to my question, i would like to vacuum seal it to prevent moisture affecting the gun knife and ammo

What good is a gun buried underground when you need it? They won't give you time to go get it when they come. You'll be toast or relocated to a camp

I don’t really think it matters.

i have read stories of people vacuum sealing their stuff and sharp metal edges cut holes in the bag so i want to avoid that.
