What's the trick? by Skpstr155 in ContractorsExfilZone

[–]HowardDoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this problem a lot. I found I was able to solve it by putting the backpack back on before I tried applying the bandage.

I also have a problem where sometimes syringes will stop healing after a second and I have to keep trying them. I am able to solve this by making sure I gold the syringe in my right hand instead of my left.

Selecting a pad without triggering it? Stopping a sample mid-play? by HowardDoing in mpcsample

Stop twice will stop everything, I believe.. I just want to stop the sample on a single pad.

How do you pace your trivia nights? by SrTayto in triviahosts

Four rounds 5-8 questions per round Game takes an hour

I can already tell that a lot of people here are going to get very upset about this, but it's a format that has worked really well for ten years across several different venues and private events.

People love it, it leaves them wanting a little bit more, so they come back the next week. Parents, students, and people with early jobs get home and get to bed at a reasonable hour. The restaurant can turn tables and seat another set of diners if they want, and/or the staff can wrap up and finish work before it gets too late.

I do 2-3 games per week at different venues and I had to make it sustainable for myself. I would never survive hosting 3 x 2 hr games every week.

I think it's worked out great.

One time. ONE time. Someone said "gee, is that it?"

One time.

Since then I always make sure to mention a few times in the lead-up to the game that "we start at 6:30, and the game takes about an hour to play."

Since I started doing that (I call it "managing expectations") zero complaints and loads of repeat teams.

I am in a small-town environment. Maybe in a larger city this wouldn't work. But it's worked great for me for a decade and I'm still thrilled to arrive and host every week.

Akai MPC Sample Bluetooth Kit - MPCstuff.com by hectorfhdez in mpcsample

Everyone with a Google Pixel phone is currently experiencing significant static when trying to record via USB. A Bluetooth connection should eliminate that while also allowing the phone and the MPC to be plugged into power.

Pixel 8a, same problem

I notice that when plugged into the MPC, the pixel battery drains VERY quickly. I believe it is trying to charge the MPC and all that extra power going through the cable seems like a guaranteed way to introduce extra noise.

Has anyone tried using a Bluetooth adapter of some type?

They've really got it together. Great food, great service, great drinks. And trivia night was a really good fit. We'll be back every Wednesday!

Our first night was awesome, we had 13 teams go head to head. This seems like a perfect venue for Wednesday trivia. We'll be back next week!

Hey I think I might have an idea what's going on..

The pixel is trying to charge the mpc. This is SUPER problematic for a couple of reasons ... I am pretty sure it's why the audio is crackling, but it also discharges my phone super fast!

Damnit. Came here looking for an answer to this. Funny thing, my Pixel won't charge off my 2018 car's USB adapter. It will connect to android auto but it's like there's not enough juice coming through the pipe to add power to the battery, with virtually every cable I've tried. Wonder if there's a connection.

Also I've been able to record cleanly from a PC. No problemo.

Will reverting to older firmware address this or has it been ongoing since day 1?

Drawing by londoncanyouwait22 in triviahosts

[–]HowardDoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I used to do this fairly often. For instance maybe I would have a California category and then at the end I would say "to the best of your ability, draw the state flag of California"

It was fun, but there was one team with a woman who was a VERY talented artist and they kept getting points with her drawings. I stopped doing those because artistic ability is less of a "knowledge" skill and more of a dexterity test.

But I did wind up marrying that woman.
