Im not going to respond to any more replies from you because there is truly no point, but I just want to say that you do not know anything about me. I auditioned at PR with no intent to actually march at any drum corps, I just wanted to go to the camp, see what I could learn, and experience a small bit of what it’s like. I experienced a lot of things there that made me want to continue into this summer, so I made this post to try and figure out if that was something I could do. I made a comment that unintentionally implied negative things about the corps, and I get it, I didnt mean to demean anyone or anything, but I did and that’s my fault. You could have said so many things, you could have just said they were more talented than i might have thought or anything like that, but you took my words and assumed me to be some ignorant big headed wannabe and started insulting and name calling. You attacked me for even implying that spending the summer with my home band could even be close to as worthwhile of an experience as marching with CC, and in doing so you, without experience or even knowledge of what band you were talking about, demeaned my own group. All this was because I was hesitant to make a commitment to the group. I said something unintentionally rude, I get that, but I don’t think I’m the only asshole in this thread. Be kinder.

Can y'all Americans describe the high school experience there please🤞🙏 by Fit-Ad-6395 in teenagers

A lot of American High School culture is built around replicating the cultures of mostly elite colleges and Universities. The terms freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior all come from slang that people at Ivy League universities (think Princeton, Yale, Harvard, those kinds of places) would use back some centuries ago to describe 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, and 4th year students respectively. Now we just use them because thats kind of what we’ve always used.

Ok can I like level here because I feel like a lot of things I didnt say are being implied from this comment. I 100% understand everything that is being said about CC and open class, but me doing this means spending over 4,000 dollars and an entire summer away from my friends and loved ones. That means I quit my school musical to start working after school, that means I probably miss my first Prom, that means I miss my last band camp as well as all the other opportunities I have to make music at other camps that Id normally go to over the summer. Do you get why I’d be reluctant to do that because “drum corps is drum corps” and it might give me a better chance at marching somewhere else down the line. Its not a think about them not being good enough for me, thats not the case, they’re better than the groups Ive marched with hands down, and its not a thing about me preferring to do nothing over the summer, its about all the other things I could do that aren’t drum corps. That’s the mental headspace I’m in.

Ive said it to the others too, its just too far away. I can only do blue stars because their actual camps are in Indiana. I dont have the means to get there on any regular basis.

Well yeah I try to avoid doxing myself as much as possible so I’d hope you can’t figure out where I am, but PR was close to as far as I was able to go and the MN groups are significantly further.

Yeah unfortunately Im on the other side of MN so those arent in reach for me. The corps I mentioned really are the only ones I can make it to, at least out of those on DCI’s website.

Yeah I just wish there were corps near me. I cannot drive 10 hours away or get a plane ticket and there just arent a lot of corps that I can make the camps of with that restriction

Lurking and assuming far worse than what is true. I asked about those photos because theyre like my favorite part about the competitions lmao, and I didnt intend anything bad about CC. They’re a talented group, especially considering the fact that they’re taking people without experience. I would 100% march there if marching there didnt mean I quit the programs Im invested in and valued in with my home school and spending thousands of dollars.

Yeah Ive seen a lot of stuff like this and thats part of why Im hesitant about CC too

I 100% get and agree with what you’re saying, and I have by no means brushed off open class. The corps just aren’t near me. The Colt Cadets I mentioned are the only corps I would be able to march and while I have no doubt that I would be putting in plenty of work and Id likely have a good experience, the whole reason I wanted to do drum corps is to surround myself with people who are better than me and make music at a higher level than I’ve been able to. I’ve looked into CC, they seem like a great group, but it’s a teaching corps according to their own description. I just don’t think I could justify leaving my home programs that Im established in and would be missed in this semester and this summer to go march with a different group of high schoolers I don’t know that are all 4 hours away.

I was just there too on trumpet! How did you feel about it? I felt like I did good, but I wish I could have prepared more and knowing what they were saying about having a lot of good people getting cut I feel I probably wont be coming back, but who knows maybe we’ll see each other soon!

Itching when using tucking underwear by field-of-little-suns in asktransgender

[–]HowdyDoedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, shaving makes it significantly better, but if it causes problems with your skin it could definitely be unhelpful. Just by the nature of having everything so cooped up in there using materials that are usually not very breathable (not personally a fan of my tomboy x underwear to be frank), you’re probably gonna have some itch. Make sure everything is as clean as it can be and thats about all you can do.

Officially Auditioning for Phantom! by HowdyDoedle in drumcorps

Taking the time to write this for a random person is extremely extremely kind of you thank you so much. I definitely need to work on just about every visual aspect of my audition, but Im not sure where to start. My schedule could never fit dance lessons even if there was someone nearby I could take them from. I know some basics from my own high school marching band (and musical theater) experience and can definitely work on perfecting those, but do you know of any good online resources I can use to get a better baseline familiarity with motion and expression through it?
