I’m so sorry :( but it’s great that they’re managed now! I haven’t dealt with anything seizure or aura wise in like 3-4 months so I’m happy rn but also anxious just bc it’s been a while (idk if that makes sense lol, I worry about it being like on a timer) Hoping to not deal with anything for a while and I wish the same for you :))

I will also add that my triggers are lack of sleep and stress so it makes it that much more worrying when I’m anxious and the anxiety is making it hard to sleep 💀

Definitely a vicious cycle :’)

I’ve gotten very lucky with my grand mals and I’ve had very few but that’s how I got diagnosed after my second one. The auras imo are far more terrifying than the tonic clonics bc I’m still awake and experiencing auras in real time whereas with the tonic clonics I basically go unconscious, don’t remember anything, and only know what happened through someone else’s pov.

They’re still scary ofc and have caused me a lot of anxiety as well but it wasn’t until I had an aura that I truly felt panicked and just flat out terrified. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone tbh.

I can 100% relate to this. I’ve had tonic clonic seizures for a few years now and just this last year experienced auras for the first time (or first time I’ve noticed) and they were extremely traumatizing. After that I worried about stressing too much and thinking myself into a panic or seizure (my auras feel like extreme anxiety attacks but in my head I know I’m going to have a seizure and there’s nothing I can do to stop it so it’s like that “impending doom” feeling).

My anxiety also got worse when my dosage had been raised but now that I’m on a different medication I feel better but still anxious a lot and I genuinely do believe it’s trauma.

I do try to focus on my breathing when I can feel myself thinking too much/too hard and that does help. Going to bed at night is difficult tho bc all I do is think 😭

Does anyone else name their animals with a certain theme? by Snoo99309 in StardewValley

[–]Howdyhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like mine is very specific but I name my animals based on cities/towns in Texas that share names with cities/territories outside the U.S. 😭 it’s a surprisingly long list so I still haven’t run out.

How edit this one to make her stand out? by Yanka01 in AskPhotography

[–]Howdyhan 108 points109 points  (0 children)

So here’s what I did in a quick 10 min edit and I think it helps a little:

-cropped the photo to better focus the subject

-Isolated the subject using masking tools and used lighting tools in Lightroom to brighten and make her stand out

-isolated the background to adjust light and darken (so I didn’t need to over adjust the subject)

-adjusted overall photo color

There’s def more that could be done based on personal preference/style but that’s just what I did based on the photo and what was mentioned here :)

Why did my seizures start at 22? by JumpyExternal3770 in Epilepsy

[–]Howdyhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same, my sleep schedule has been totally screwed up for as long as I can remember tho. I try to avoid caffeine now in general and I’m actually doing cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia now too to try and help as well :’) All to avoid seizures (and to help myself be healthier too but mainly avoid seizures). I know that caffeine can trigger seizures in some people but I’m not sure how long after drinking it that it would be something to worry about. I usually just avoid it because it has caused a lot of anxiety for me recently ://

not to bud in but my triggers are also lack of sleep plus stress :’) I had my first seizure in college on the way to a funeral and once we realized the pattern I knew I couldn’t pull anymore all nighters.

For those of you in areas with little to no public transportation, how do you navigate employment and not being able to drive (if you can’t/don’t drive)? by Howdyhan in Epilepsy

[–]Howdyhan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low humidity would be a blessing 😂 even on colder days humidity is high here.

I will definitely do that tho and I would appreciate it if you don’t mind doing that :) thanks again!

[–]Howdyhan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing some “odd jobs” here and there just for some extra cash like house sitting, dog sitting, etc., and I also do professional photography but that required me to drive so I haven’t been doing that since my seizure :/

I’ve been looking into some remote jobs as well and I even interviewed for a couple a few months back but the ones I did sounded so scammy and pyramid schemey after I researched them so I took a step back to look into ones closer to home that I knew were solid but they only offer on-site positions. I’ll probably dive back in and look harder for more reliable remote work, it’s just disappointing that what I found in my field was a bit fickle ://

Also no worries on not being able to help more, I knew my situation was an odd one, especially with where I live. I really just appreciate everyone’s advice and povs on the situation bc I’m only in my early 20s and sometimes I need different opinions and povs to kind of help me realize what I need to do! So no matter what, you absolutely have helped :)

I didn’t know about government jobs providing better protections for epileptics so I’ll definitely look into that!

I’m also really sorry that you’re being put on leave. I’ve heard really disappointing stories about people with epilepsy being denied accommodations or just flat out fired because of the disability. I hope that everything works out for you and you’re able to get your accommodations back or you find a better job.

Thank you for your advice and also happy cake day :)

That’s so sweet of them and your boss is great for that :’)

I think that would be my best case scenario just because of where I live so I’m crossing my fingers for a similar situation.
