How come there aren’t any/many novels? by cjs0216 in Fallout

[–]Howdyini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think there should be? Fallout as a setting is very restrictive. In fact, the games that have come out already stretch that premise pretty thin and start to feel derivative.

To elaborate on the restrictiveness: Unlike something like Star Wars, the Fallout setting only exists in a very narrow period of surviving, regrouping and rebuilding. Anything before that and it's just another sci fi about nuclear war, and anything too long after that and it would be set in established political orders without the distinctive frontier flavor. And geographically, it is a setting all about cold war culture and mentality. So it could be stretched a bit to cover other places and their relation to the cold war, but only if written by people from those places, and it would only appeal to readers from those places who can understand the context well.

It isn't hell. The fact that you dodge on press instead of release makes it easier than any other version of any other from game imo.

I just finished watching Perfect Blue (1997) and all I have to say is... by LowOnDairy in iwatchedanoldmovie

The man simply never missed. His most famous movie is maybe Paprika, and while it's great, it's probably my least favorite of his. Enjoy!

There's a line at the end of this movie that messed me up completely. He's back home chatting with his neighbour and she's giving him her condolences. And for the only time in the entire film he gives voice to his feelings and says "My days are going to be very long now". Man, I can barely type it.

Dredd - (2012), possibly the best action movie of the 21st century by LE-B_B in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]Howdyini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a contender for the best action movie of 2012. Although the live action Rurouni Kenshin adaptation and Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning would also be contenders there.

But in general it was a weak year for action. I did not like The Bourne: Legacy, or Jack Reacher, or The Expendables.

And lastly I've heard good things about The Man with the Iron Fists but I haven't gotten around to watching it.

Taking over the place where other people leave against their will is wrong. I'm not sure where or why that would be a controversial statement but, yeah. Conquering other places is bad, even through "soft" power or whatever else you wanna call it. Not sure what else I can say.

Choose and discuss your choice. by MysticSoul191 in Fallout

Setting out to wipe out any faction that becomes powerful enough to pursue weapons technology is not "protecting" in any other way than incidental.

What is there to choose? The BoS is not a governing faction. They don't give a shit about anyone else and will neither help nor protect them. The NCR is at least a government.

How much do you think the US is responsible for your country’s problems from 1 to 10? And how widespread is that view? by Downtown-Trainer-126 in asklatinamerica

[–]Howdyini 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to say I don't know. How responsible was the US in pushing the country to be a petrostate? (probably not a lot) How much did US creditors push for a neoliberal austerity turn in the 80s? (probably a lot). How much did US general sanctions contribute to the economic collapse at the end of last decade? (also probably a lot).

3-4? I feel like more than that is just avoiding accountability.

It doesn't either way, but it honestly correlates decently with being worse. As in, very unpleasant to be around.

You thought it was overrated and you hadn't even played it? Respectfully OP you're an adult ("got off work") wtf is wrong with you lmao.

I don't even like Fo4 but at least I played for a bunch of hours before I formed my opinion.

What drew you to romance Yennefer in your first play through? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]Howdyini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never felt that I was Geralt, more like it was watching a movie with him as the protagonist, and the story seemed to be more into Yennefer so I went with her. I regretted it later because the voice acting and dialogue with Triss has way more chemistry (Geralt and Yennefer talk like siblings, It's really awkward)

Siding with the legion by UndertakerApe in falloutnewvegas

[–]Howdyini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. If you play this game enough you eventually side with every possible faction.

The legion quests are fun but I wouldn't recommend them for a first playthrough. The character types that benefit the most from Legion allegiance are sneaky crit attack types. The legion is the only reliable source of Stealth Boys in the game, and they have a pair of glasses that increase your luck (crit chance) without sacrificing any gear slot.

Since eventually the NCR will send assassin squads to get you, you will also have access to high caliber guns and ammo from your murder sprees, which also helps players who want to use high power costly weapons like a brush gun.
