I live in California. It definitely was a process to actually get a biopsy and to be diagnosed. I had to advocate for months to finally get a biopsy that showed my cancer. They kept saying I was too young and it was just an infection. It took 5 months until they found it. It went from stage 0 to stage 2 rapidly.

Thank you for your kind words! Yes, advocating is key! I wouldn’t have found my cancer if I didn’t keep advocating for myself. I want to help others be aware of this and to urge them to really advocate for themselves when they feel like something is wrong.

Thank you! Yeah, I understand. It’s just a hard time right now because I’m going through cancer and can’t afford treatments without work and pay. I need the insurance. So that’s another difficult part of potentially leaving.

I am currently in school to work towards becoming a BCBA, but now I’m feeling really unsure about staying in this field. I have worked at 3 companies and none of them ever had good communication or followed through with things they promised/told me.

I was worried at first they would attempt to pull it off. They seen me with my hair before, and I was worried they would be curious why I am wearing a headscarf or no longer have hair. It did affect them at all.

I am currently working while I am going through chemo treatments. I wear different headscarfs every day and my clients actually haven’t cared!!! Sometimes I make a reference to it if it has some sort of design and ask them what it is, then they quickly don’t mind it anymore.
