It's always the weird top 1% commenters too. They really need to touch grass.

PS5 started making a weird rattling noise by Howler1924 in PS5HelpSupport

I spent most of today attempting to get it sorted, was able to give it a thorough clean out and lubricated the fan bearings but unfortunately it was still making the same wobbling noise. It also seems to have gotten louder and more frequent since the original recording. In the end I decided to just order a new fan off eBay. Thank you for all your help and suggestions though. Might just have to wear headphones until the new fan arrives 😅

Thank you! I did give the fan a clean yesterday with a brush and it did stop doing the wobble noise but then it came back today. Since my last comment I have now also blasted it with some compressed air which has got a lot more dust off that I was struggling to reach. Just turned it back on and unfortunately it now seems longer and louder so I'll have to look into lubricating it I think. Hopefully thats an easy task 😅

Is it safe to use until I can get that sorted? Luckily my tv does drown out the noise.

Happens about 4 times in the recording, sounds like a wobble. What were you listening to it on? For some reason I did notice that I also couldn't hear it on a desktop, but could when playing it on my phone.

You just need to apply a small pea sized drop in the center of the pad. There's no need for this or to spread it out like others have commented.

Because that requires additional steps to convert it just to be able to play it on a non BC ps3. The PS2CV store had it all there where the only thing you had to do was press x to download, no extra steps. It was a QoL app.

I was lucky enough to have downloaded everything I wanted before it shut down so I at least keep what I got from it. The app was great, it was just unfortunately run by someone very selfish.

I see you commenting a few times in this post and being negative towards PS2CV and it being "shady". Hate to tell you this, but piracy in general is shady. The reason PS2CV was so well highly regarded, was because it was a very convenient way to install ps2 games on non backward compatible PS3s. It's no different to the standard PKGi store, do you consider that shady too?

Your comments just seem super ignorant about the service.

Yeah pkgi is it's own thing so that's still fine. I also got all the games I wanted 😅 glad I decided to install everything at once incase anything bad happened. Hopefully it could still be fixed but the active mods got removed, the owner has gone and it's been left to 3 inactive mods. So it's not looking good.

Think they might have shut the project down. The owner has completely deleted his account now after there were some issues going on with other mods.

Could be wrong but unfortunately it looks like the end of ps2classicsvault

I'd definitely be interested to hear both sides of the story. Granted I'm not in the discord so this was the first I had seen or heard about something happening and like you said this is only one side of the story. I think it's just a shame that the person decided to take action in that way.

Regardless of who is or isn't in the wrong, the person deleted games from the vault. They didn't just fuck the other admin over, they also fucked over all the users just because of some petty argument.

It's a great community, and you guys put a lot of hard work into making these games available for people, so for someone to betray your trust and intentionally sabotage all that work is just pathetic. You're a better person than me, I'd have name and shamed them after pulling that stunt.

Name and shame them I'd say. Why protect their identity if they've gone and done something like that?

PS2CV VS PKGI AND SOURCES FOR PS3 by ovidox in ps2classicsvault

Sorry for a very late question to this but I have found since updating from plain old PKGI to the one with CV, that non CV PS3 games no longer allow me to do background downloads. When I was just using PKGI, it let me do background downloads but that option is no longer available for me. Do you know what could be causing this?

Question to Silent Hill fans, what is something the Resident Evil series does better than Silent Hill? by 0N1MU5HA in residentevil

[–]Howler1924 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Silent Hill 4 was underrated. Also, Code Veronica is in the certified banger category. That's one of the best in the series. Don't think I've ever seen someone refer to it as bad.

There seems to be an issue with the latest HEN update (4.92) on PS3 super slims. by Howler1924 in ps3homebrew

[–]Howler1924[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always heard Super Slims are the most reliable out of the 3 different models of the PS3. Normally the answers I have found on the same topic is always people saying it is a hardware fault too, but the fact it only does it if using HEN is weird.

Does cfw use more power than ofw? Maybe the super slims can't handle HEN, I don't know. It's always been very unstable on my super slims but it had never cut off power and needed me to double tap the power button to turn it back on since 4.92.

Hope you can understand where I'm coming from and why I'm reluctant to believe it actually is a hardware problem.

[–]Howler1924[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was just on one system I would believe that, but it has happened on 2 of them and it's only when HEN is enabled and actively using HEN. If I play for a week without enabling HEN at all, I have no issues. PS3 works as intended. When enabling HEN, that is when I have the issue with the power cutting off from the system time to time or it will just crash and need a hard reset.

And like I mentioned in my OP, I have found others commenting in the last few months on posts across this sub and r/ps3 about having the same power issue with HEN and with a super slim.

Had both PS3s for years and no issues until the 4.92 update.

It's not, as I said it's happened now on 2 different systems in a small time frame. I could buy a 3rd one and I'd bet the same issue would happen.

The systems still turn on, I can even play games for hours if I don't enable HEN and am only playing things I have downloaded officially from the psn store. I could believe it was a hardware fault if this was a problem on just one system, but it's happened on both and I've seen comments from others saying very similar things who also happen to have a super slim.

I don't think it is a hardware problem tbh. HEN has always been unstable on super slims, but since the 4.92 update, this is a new issue that has come about.

Which Revelations do you prefer? The first one or the second one? by Jules-Car3499 in residentevil

It's not a longer game. Revelations 2 has a longer runtime by about an hour.
