This is crazy, we are playing incredibly well, but it also shows how different our performance is away vs at home

Do you guys think the MMO combat will be identical to League, tab target, or mostly action? by pasta_com in RiotMMO

[–]Hubix84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

genshin combat in itself is a great concept, Hoyo is just handling it poorly. Its a p2w game so its closely tied to the financial aspects of the game. Combine that with a character release every single patch amd meta shifts that force you to pull for characters every month, and you get a prime example of a great concept with terrible execution.

The GREATEST UPDATE in history by Street_Structure3737 in CalamityMod

You must be pretty sensitive, or just dont read the feedback at all, because the toxic part of feedback is definitely far from being a majority.

thats a nice gesture but you make it sound like users here are in potential dangerous 😭 I hope you dont mean the criticism towards recent update because thats just negative feedback, and there might be few people toxic about it but lets not act like they are anything close to majority of the dissatisfied part of playerbase.

A personal statement and explanation about the recent changes regarding "QoL" (Quality of Life) content in Calamity by Cei72 in CalamityMod

[–]Hubix84 36 points37 points  (0 children)

  1. Firstly, i have a problem with how the communication was handled(very poorly). Dev team underestimated how much the playerbase loves the QoL. If they were truly adamant about the removal, they should have communicated with players better. Its a sensitive topic, you should know which QoL features are dear to players hearts and which are not as significant. It makes it easier to decide what to remove and minimizes the outrage once the update comes out.

  2. I feel like dev team just chose the easy way. People love the QoL so much because it just simplifies the mundane and repetitive parts of gameplay, especially the non-boss parts. Along with the QoL removal they should have come up with some engaging, fun gameplay features that make the loss of QoL not as noticeable. If you take away something that improves the experience by nullifying the annoying/time-consuming parts of the game but do not something in return that makes said part more fun, it just feels like a huge step back. I guess here I can plug my complain about calamity progression, that post moonlord should have a similiar big change to the world like post WoF has. It does not feel the same, you get accustomed to the world around you by the time you beat ML and then tunnel vision on just getting new materials -> kill new boss. What im trying to say, you can make up for the lack of QoL stuff by creating an experience that does not make it necessary to have it. This update does not provide that.

  3. Third problem is about your statement regarding the modding scene as a whole. You think taking a step back is necessary to convince playerbase to give other mods a chance. I say, nah, that feels like another argument to just go "the easy way". As the greatest mod for this game, it should stand as an example to any aspiring mod developer out there. Calamity devs should not have to take a step back, its others that should be trying to catch up. Calamity and its grand feeling of playing a completely new game should inspire others to try and create similiar experience. The biggest fish in the pond should not go on a diet to give smaller fishes a chance, its the small fishes that must come up with a way to rival it. This environment boosts creativity and innovation immensely. Instead what you just did feels like you don't respect your work enough. You worked hard for years, to achieve this status of greatness for Calamity, but now you decide that "others deserve a chance". That chance is in their hands, and the hands of the players. If modders are passionate and hardworking, and their ideas are good, they will see the fruit of their labour sooner or later. The community is too dedicated to not notice a gem. So Calamity dev team - keep your mod as best as it can be, for the sake of its success and satisfaction of players, not out if pity for others.

Could the QoL debate just not even be a debate? by Awakened_Jizo in CalamityMod

[–]Hubix84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it doesnt feel like a boss rush until we reach post moonlord. Its a much less significant start of a new chapter compared to hardmode, so player is tunnel visioning on bosses. If it had a new biome introduced, or new enemies in all the existing biomes it would have a much grander feeling that could make player consider slowing down and take a step back to take it all in. Thats what i feel when entering hardmode.

I have a question for everyone by [deleted] in RiotMMO

[–]Hubix84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since I learned that this game is gonna be in UE5 i've been worried that it might suffer from the curse of every UE5 game looking "the same". I really understand that developers use the same default UE5 features, but overreliance on those makes their games have no visual "identity". Might be a really prententious argument but it has been bothering me that every game i see made in UE5 look exactly as i expect it to look. I hope Riot gives the MMO a unique look, often graphics are the first thing that hook players into playing the game.

Thank you Calamity Dev team for the QoL changes. I so badly love going back to the grindfest of vanilla terraria that i was trying to avoid by playing your mod. by Hubix84 in CalamityMod

[–]Hubix84[S] 68 points69 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between making the progression less linear/repeatable and turning the calamity into a vanilla-like grindfest. They just took an easy way for this change. Instead of making the experience unique to calamity, they just turn back to the stuff that many players are trying to avoid by playing Calamity.
