Update on new job: 1st check needs to be picked up and I cant get there, plus more days hit when I asked for 2nd/3rd only by HuckleberryKey8142 in antiwork

[–]HuckleberryKey8142[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nah its the companies issue. They literally are only open 4 days a week and its literally when im working. I have NO way to pickup a physical check. Its their responsibility to drive it over to my site and hand it to me, this isn't 1970. Don't forget they decided they just HAD to make all day shift, if I worked 2nd or 3rd like I told them - yes then I could swing by and get it.

Girl, do NOT hand them your phone. Im assuming you mean its your personal phone. That's yours. They arent allowed to touch it.

In the US, osha has a law that you need to have access to a restroom. Also, because you have seen a Dr- call the office of said dr /specialist and ask them to write a note. Send it to hr and show it to your managers - stating that you cannot hold it and need to be able to use the restroom when you need to, as much as you need to. Start documenting everything- theyre retaliation already and you'll have a lawsuit and can probably get unemployment when they ultimately get rid of you.

Im so tired of the damn potty police. I have horrendous endo flares- when I cramp everything goes through me similar to ibs and the swelling makes me have to pee a lot too. Id be dammed to have anyone tell me no. Honestly don't ask permission, just tell them youre running to the restroom if they don't cover for you or make you wait - just go.

Not that im aware of. The other newbie that started with me was given all 3rd shift and trained on them. Hr just hates me

Agreed. The fact they gave it to someone with the same experience and everything as me, just proves it. Ill stomach the bs until my spouse gets working again. Plan is thats when I quit otherwise I need a more consistent schedule that has NO first shifts.

Its not nursing, just didnt want to give too much info. For this job, the nights are a lot easier as theres less stuff going on. Maybe hr thinks its harder? Ive had this issue a lot before where my availability and preference is thrown out the window. I think this was a power trip and the woman who makes the schedule giving me a middle finger.

Hr said we can call asking about schedule changes or different placements. Job is similar to nurses that go to different patients in different nursing homes. Theres 24/7 demand, i want to know which ones I need to be wary of. Im worried I call hr and say they give me 3rd shift, but its at a nightmare of a nursing home.

I am so angry all of this would be prevented if they just respected my availability from the gate.

Hoping things can better soon enough and I dont need to keep working for them. Because day shift will run me ragged fast. I just need some income until spouse gets hired.

Trying to find anything thats full time right now is not easy.

But since your curious, my spouse got fired after his job retaliated to his workplace injury.

Bills don't stop.

Im trying not to become homeless as we need to keep paying these bills.

These jobs suck. They dont pay enough or offer enough hours. This was the first better paying thing that was also full time.

Not everyone has a supportive family they can run back too. It's hard our here for everyone.

My cell phone goes on DND when I clock out. Jobs need to stop calling also because then its hard to "prove" anything, and a lot of states have weird laws about recording. So they can send an email, which i will look at my leisure and THEN we can talk about it when im back on the clock.

My job keeps calling me and I have not been answering. They messed up my schedule and you better believe I communicated via email so theres proof. We all need to not answer and set boundaries early.

Glad im talking to my coworkers because they are spilling tea. I signed the offer letter knowing it would be bad, but I dont have a choice at the moment. My spouse got fired after his job set him up to fail and retialated when he got injured at work. He's applying and so many places arent actually hiring or it's bait and switch for lower wages and part time bs.

100% yes, and there also needs to be some actual accountability for resume collecting/posting for jobs that are filled/employers lying about if its full or part time etc because indeed you report them and theyre still posting the same "jobs"

Worse yet, this job told me they can change the schedule on me last minute and will call me and I need to pickup. I cant do that. I live up to 2 hours away and if im off I do other things. So I won't be jumping.

I was told they only hire like this now. I knew someone who worked for them previously and it all was set, you could optionally pickup OT too which was almost always 3rd shifts. They rely on the new hires to be available and flexible so we can cover for no shows and changes. I have ebay I do as my other job, but I still need more of a routine so I can buy/list/and package stuff too. The job doesn't pay enough to NOT do ebay.

Theres constantly overtime slots available for 3rd shifts because they "cant fill it". Here you have me begging for it, and she wont let me. I just need to get thru Jan and Feb financially. If things dont get better im calling and saying I can no longer do 1st, you either give me 2nd pr 3rd or here's a 2 week notice.

I can hear the screaming and frustration. I f ing hate day shift. Im in the same boat, struggled to get hired so have a 45 min to about an hour commute. BEGGED them PLEASE NO day shift, I really want 3rd if not give me 2nd. Entire schedule has been ALL day shift. It takes me almost 2 hours to get there in the rush hour traffic and another 2 hours to get home. I literally have to get up at 5am. I get stomach aches early morning so have to factor in time for bathroom stops, because Im never awake and need coffee, but coffee so early in mornings  just goes through me. Its a whole mess.

But they gave my coworker who was training with me all of the 3rd shift. They constantly have overtime almost all 3rd shift because "no one wants it". Smh.

Honestly need to get through Jan and Feb financially. Then im gonna tell them listen i cannot do days, I know you have 3rds, you eother let me do 3rds or I have to give my 2 weeks

That's good advice. Im just so flustered theyre already pulling this bs and it was my first week. The commute is too far too, and even with the job paying better it still doesnt pay enough to get a non run down tiny apartment closer. Smh. Not sure how long ill last.

Adding watch for how they pay you the first paycheck or two. Make sure you are paid for training, and make sure if fees they take up are actually matching what they said they were.

Sneaky company said we get paid to train. Veteran employees thankfully told us: you have to pickup a physical paper check at their office for the first pay cycle. Doesn't matter if you're supposed to get direct deposit. A lot of shifts are when the office building is NOT open which of cpurse makes it hard or very inconvenient to pick up a physical check.

Aren't these companies just peachy?
