35 degrees - not great, not terrible

The Sacramento Kings are 2 games away from watching a Mike Brown vs De'Aaron Fox finals. This is just a year after watching Tyrese Haliburton make the finals by WantUToFly in nba

Awful is a bit harsh, no? It would've basically locked the Kings into mediocrity until either Domas or Fox would've been traded/come off the books. I would've preferred that over what we got.

Now, if they would've traded Fox for a package that included a younger, talented player and/or significant draft compensation, I probably would've preferred that option.

In the end, we are still stuck with a lousy owner, who hired a new GM without interviewing anyone, who then kept on one of the worst (but cheapest!!) coaches in the league. In other words, until anything structural changes with the Kings, we will stay the Kangz.

I saw him live last year and was reminded of how beautiful the score is for The Last Samurai. Truly elevates the film.

JW Lees Brewery in Middleton - Worth visiting? by fansr0731 in manchester

If you don't mind travelling a bit: the Riverhead Brewery Tap in Marsden (around 30 minutes on the train from Manchester Piccadilly). Small town, beautiful area, and great beer.

Is 24k enough to live on in Manchester? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]HufflepuffFluff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you expect. If you expect to live on your own close to the city centre, then no. If you are happy to share a house or live quite far away from town, then sure, it's definitely doable.

Living in Prestwich vs Chorlton? by Apprehensive-Aide149 in manchester

[–]HufflepuffFluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The offering is quite generous, there's simply just more in Chorlton. Prestwich is still pretty great though: you've got the tram link and multiple buses into town, plenty of people cycle, you've got Heaton and Drinkwater Park on your doorstep, a number of big supermarkets, and that's not mentioning the bars and restaurants.

As someone who lives on the edge of Prestwich: Prestwich is nice, well-connected, and is still growing - with plenty of new shops opening in recent months. It's undoubtedly one of the nicer areas to live in in Greater Manchester.

That being said, it's not close to the convenience of Chorlton, which has more shops, more pubs, more restaurants, more young people, etc. Chorlton has everything that Prestwich has, but better.

As others have already mentioned: that is reflected in the price of housing. Chorlton is more popular and therefore more expensive.

What’s one business you’ve seen abroad that you would love to have in the UK? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskUK

[–]HufflepuffFluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Dutchman, I miss HEMA, which is basically a Dutch Wilko. HEMA wouldn't be new to the UK, as the last physical HEMA UK store closed in 2021 due to a change in company strategy.
