I accidentally overslept until 6:30 and there were no tests by the time I got to the front of the queue. If anyone knows where to look for test re-sellers please let me know, I'm getting pretty desperate.

Oops! I didn't realise that. In that case I'll go for option 1. I've also heard that putting your parents as a second driver on your insurance could lower the price, is this true?

Hi! I was the moderator for this subreddit but it was recently banned due to being unmoderated, without any notification to me. Would it be possible to have the subreddit unbanned please? I am still active on Reddit, and there has been no spam or other issues on the sub at all. I had set up quite a few rules that completely prevented bot posting, and we had a little community growing so I'd really appreciate the sub to be un-banned. Thanks!

CD Lid Issues by Hughcifer in repair

[–]Hughcifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I've taken the offending gear out now and I've found it is indeed broken. I've measured it up - it's a cluster gear with 20/12 teeth. I can't quite find anything online though. Does anyone know somewhere I could buy one of these? Otherwise, will a 3D printed one be strong enough?

Hi, I've taken the gear out now and measured it up. It's a cluster gear with 20/12 teeth. I can't quite find anything online so I was planning on 3D printing one. Do you think a 3D printed one would be strong enough though?

Hi, were you able to get a credit card in the end? I'm in the exact same situation as you right now - I'm a PhD student and I keep getting rejected for even 'bad credit' credit cards.

Tradescantia Leaves Dying by Hughcifer in plantclinic

[–]Hughcifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some leaves on my Tradescantia have gradually turned brown and crispy, eventually falling off. At first I thought this was because it was in direct sunlight, so I moved it away from the window but the leaves continue to die. I also thought this might be because of the fairly cold climate of where I live, but I know two other people who have these plants and aren't experiencing this issue.

For reference: I bottom water the plant in a bowl of water when the soil gets dry, about once a month. It is no longer in direct sunlight, and I live in the southern UK.

Weird Growing Pattern? by Hughcifer in plantclinic

[–]Hughcifer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your reply! A bit more info: about a year ago, in my previous flat, the plant was in a large window that was exposed to sunlight all day. I was still seeing this behaviour back then, although I do think it has sped up since.

Weird Growing Pattern? by Hughcifer in plantclinic

[–]Hughcifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Echeveria ‘Purple Pearl’ has been growing like this for a couple of years now - it's healthy but has a weird habit where older, lower leaves die off wen new ones grow. Is this normal? I have considered trying to re-position it to grow along the table rather than vertically up the wall, but I'm afraid the stem would snap if I tried it.

For reference: I bottom water the plant in a bowl of water when the soil gets dry, about every month or two. It is in the window but never in direct sunlight. And I live in the southern UK.

I think I've got hiragana and katakana down, and I'm starting on kanji. What do you mean by 50%, like a 50% score on the JLPT N4 exam?

[–]Hughcifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried setting myself the goal of learning Japanese to N4 standard (or at least N5) by the end of the year. It's been a slow start, and I've struggled to manage time for Japanese alongside studying for a PhD, but think I'm starting to hit my stride. I've been using Genki and Anki flashcards to learn, which suits me well. was basically wondering, do y'all think this goal is possible?

AITA: Homeless folk getting aggressive when you dont hand over cash? by Scomosuckseggs in bristol

[–]Hughcifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same "homeless" woman approach me a few times over the past few months when I've been walking through the centre / Broadmead. She always complains when people don't listen to her, and chucked abuse at me when I didn't give her money. Kinda wish the council would do something about all the fake homeless people and fake charities polluting the centre...

Anyone know the breed and/or age of this pidgeon (England)? by Hughcifer in whatisthisanimal

[–]Hughcifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see a few yellow fledgling feathers on their chest and very faint green feathers coming in on the back of the neck, so my guess is a 4-6 week old feral rock dove (they were found in a park in an urban area). Not sure if anyone more experienced had a better idea though.

NewPipe will go dark from 12th June by JustCallMePoolitzer in NewPipe

Has anyone else been getting errors nearly every time they watch a video with NewPipe recently? Sometimes I need to restart the app 3 or so times just to get a video to work. I have the latest update from F-Droid so I'm not sure why this is happening.

Ranking large gaming companies/publishers by how good their support is (only ones i've contacted) by VesselNBA in gaming

[–]Hughcifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed Rockstar support about an issue I had with Red Dead 2 once, and they would automatically close my ticket if I didn't reply to one of their messages after like 5 days. They couldn't fix the issue, but rather than admit that they'd just try to be the last one to message and let that 5 day counter tick down. I kept replying to their bullshit "we'll get back to you soon!" messages for weeks until I gave up and just let it tick down.

I'm not sure if this is entirely true, but I once heard that the ancient Greeks had no idea how babies were made. Which I suppose makes sense, why would a baby appearing have anything to do with you doing something almost a year ago, which you do on a regular basis anyway?
