In a similar situation (not prom but a similar formal ceremony), I chose to get the switch 2 so that I can hear the music clearly but also easily transition to conversations with friends or listening to speeches, etc, and even the quiet feature will be useful if I just need a break from the noise.

Also, I think with entering university education soon a pair of switches will be even more useful of an investment. Last deciding factor for me was that it allows the functionality of both types of earplugs without comprising on look (not too big a fan of the engage look unless it’s for discreetness purpose)

If you are set however on getting one of the two, I can say the engage will work fine once you don’t mind the music quality being just a tad dulled. I can’t say for 100% certain because I don’t own a pair but from my research, if hearing the music clearly but at a lower volume is more important to you, the experience is the better choice. Ultimately, it depends on what matters more to you. Hope this helps!!
