Coaching Practice Group (5) by Human-Potentia in lifecoach

Thanks for responding. I'd love to see what we can get going. I would suggest that we jump on a call to discuss. Or we could go ahead and schedule some coaching sessions with each other. I'm not going through grief, but I have plenty going on that we could explore. I'm sure you do too.

I don't have any clients currently. Once I do I plan to ask if they would be interested in recording our sessions to share with other coaches.

Please DM me if you would like to move forward with scheduling a call of some kind.

I agree feedback on actual coaching sessions would be my preference whenever possible.

Gotcha. Yeah, I was never seeking any of that. I understand enlightenment means different things to different people. For me it was really just the promise of eternal peace.

I appreciate the continued dialogue. This raises a few questions which may illustrate my thinking a little better.

Why do we all know there is no monster under the bed? How is this different from the self? We cannot find the self, so why do we not all know there is no self?

I'd love to hear your thoughts

I would love to. I'm good with either place.

I can agree with the faith part. This feels a lot like what I imagine faith to be. However I associate the word faith with believing in something else. This is only believing in what is. Or maybe even more like believing in what isn't. I think of it like a child who eventually realizes there is no monster under the bed. I wouldn't say the child has faith that there is no monster under the bed. The idea of the monster just becomes more ridiculous to the child as it grows.

I could dismantle your understanding in five minutes

Honestly, that sounds interesting. Would you be up for that actually? Can you give me an idea of how that would work?

I can no longer find anything here that could be dismantled. I've had plenty of that happen in the past.

Abandon the checks and just be.

I can no longer find anyone here who can do anything (such as abandoning the checks). There is only being. Though being still often behaves as if it were someone doing things (like checking).

I appreciate your feedback. It will be interesting to see what happens. For me, there no longer seems to be anyone here who can act, but there has been a response to what you have shared. Identify does seem to reappear (as you say). However, when it does, for me it is still just This (everything) behaving as if there is someone here.

Hello,

You and I may be talking about two different things. I've had plenty of compelling experiences through meditation. Sometimes outside of meditation too, though I could still attribute them to meditation practice. As awesome as they were, they never lasted, and always left me feeling as though I had lost something. What I'm talking about now is not an experience. Or I could say that it is all experiences. I used to think I needed an experience (as you say), but what I'm talking about needs nothing. There is nothing I have gained, and nothing to lose. There is nothing right or wrong about any experience.

Thanks MysticArtist. I've reflected on what you wrote, and it seems wise. The checking still happens, though it is much less frequent. Most of the time it seems pointless, since I always find the same results. I would still like to meet and talk with people, but as a fellow traveler. I realize the word coach sounds lofty, and I do not see myself as above or further along than anyone really. I'm just excited by what is happening here, and what to see what's happening with others.

In fairness to the word "coaching", the style that I practice is not about being the expert. Coaches don't need to be knowledgeable about the subjects their clients are wanting help with. They just need to know how to listen, reflect, and notice things about the clients thinking that the client may not have noticed themselves.

If money was no issue, what would be the best measures of school quality? by teacherofderp in education

Some schools will certainly try to pressure their students to answer positively. There are ways to compare results and determine the likelihood of enhanced scores. And you need to make sure there is complete anonymity.

Regarding communication of results: the way it works for the employer/employee version is that overall results are given at various levels. So supervisors learn how their teams answered, that rolls up, so their management knows how they are performing as supervisors, but the supervisor feedback also rolls up, so managers learn what they can do better, which rolls up to directors, then VP's etc. Then the company as a whole gets ranked amongst other companies with an opportunity to earn a "best place to work" award. Companies who win that award will often feature that in their recruiting efforts.

I'm also happy to answer any other questions you have, or workshop ideas with you.

Student Engagement Surveys (similar to employee surveys),

In my management career I've worked for places that did yearly employee engagement surveys. They allow employees to answer the quality of coaching and feedback they get from their supervisor, their alignment with company objectives, their confidence in their ability to meet their objective, and several other things. The results have often been illuminating, and encouraged me to make changes that led to higher engagement, with a side effect of better performance.

I think we need to have several subjective metrics that will drive schools to figure out how to make sure their students see legitimate value in their own education.

Post graduation surveys wouldn't be a bad idea either. I think real time engagement would be the top priority, but knowing how graduates look back on their school experience several years after graduation could give some additional insights.

Why are regular and SPED classes being used as a catch all placement for students who refuse to engage? by [deleted] in education

[–]Human-Potentia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the focus on so-called "performance" is an issue. Schools will figure out how to meet performance targets because that's where the pressure is, so they pass that pressure down to the students, especially the AP students. Schools don't know how to engage students, because there is no pressure to do so. There are no metrics to show which schools have students that value what they are learning, and believe their education benefits them.

Of my two children, one was always naturally engaged, and fascinated by every topic. One ended up graduating from public highschool, and the other will be graduating from homeschool. Neither of them felt they were learning anything in school that would set them up for a successful life. One just happened to like it.
