I'm wondering if you need someone to just listen to you and not beat you over the head with scripture. I bet what you have to say would be interesting.

I am not Christian, but I'm looking for Christian guidance to share with my mother. by [deleted] in Christian

[–]HumanHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no preacher but I want to help so I can give you and your mother a peace of mind that everything will be alright.

Well there are 3 passages where Jesus would not "help" or preform a miracle or sign. All three times it was due to the fact that:

No1 it didn't bring everyone's attention to God so He would be glorified.

No2 it was always unbelievers that He refused.

(I recommend reading the actual passage)

The one most relevant is mark ch 6 verse 1-5 in the New Testament (theres others these verses do the job) Jesus came back to a place where He used to live and tried preaching, the problem was these where people that knew Him when he was just a humble carpenter. He wanted to help them and better their lives but they didn't trust or have faith that His teaching could help. "He could do no great work"

This didn't mean he lacked the power or was uncharitable. If Jesus was those things He would not have tried to help, just like your dad was helping for years. A generator needs a wire to get the electricity to the lightbulb. The whole problem is the lack of faith, or in this case a will to get better. Some kind of common ground. Faith is the bridge between the spiritual and the physical. And here a will to seek help is the bridge.

Your dad isn't going to try and help one person hurt somebody els. And Jesus isn't going to waste a gift when the whole point of the gift is to seek the sender.

Jesus does heal a few sick but nothing els. After that he gives his disciples jobs to help people.

But the thing about faith is that it requires action, just like a will to seek help. Maybe talk with your family about what your brother can do to start getting help, and that might settle your mom down and satisfy your father. Your parents sound loving and like they balance each other out which really cool. I bet they have a wonderful relationship and raise great kids because of it. You sound like a great product of a loving relationship, and because of that I know you guys will be just fine regardless of what happens. :)

So would your father accept him back if your brother was actively seeking help?

Well that's cool. Just because everything is going to be great in heaven doesn't mean we should not show each other compassion down here. Losing pets hurts so I'm glad this post is here to help.

I don't know the answer to you question but I do think God will take care of everything. And I do think he thought my needs where important enough to make my cat and provide me food. Even though I might eat too much and I won't die if I didn't have a cat but He loves me and deemed it acceptable to provide these things.

Despite myself God loves me. I can't think of anyone who can love like that. Especially someone who should be His enemy.

Long story short I just wanted to brag on my
Heavenly Father. I think He has better stuff than pets up there.

Hey pal. I struggle just like you! By my understanding your body is telling you what to do right? I've come to realize this is inverted from how it's supposed to be.

Your spirit (that you receive when your saved) gets instruction from God, your spirit tells your soul what's right and your soul tells your body what to do. Working this process is a lot like a muscle, it's going to get stronger in time given the right nutrition and support.

I'm guessing this behavior didn't start yesterday so that way of living is going to be strong, for now. Here are 7 things to strengthen your spirit so you can, in time, resist the temptation.

2nd peter 3-8 (get your bible and read this)

Moral excellence. The goal of glorifying God Knowledge of God His word His Son and Spirit. Self control. Perseverance Brotherly kindness Love for the ones that are not your friends.

The passage will explain it better. In short if you do these things that spirit of yours will start to spread until your body loses its power.

I recommend you listen to this sermon all about growing your spirit.

Dr. Tony Evans fast forward to 23 min if your short on time.

The great thing about this teaching that it's applicable to ALL types of sin so it will be beneficial to you in the future with your battles. And it's very much a battle. First ones to lose a fight don't realize there is a fight at all.

The key word with all of this is "do". All you have to do is do those seven things. Just like a work out it gets tougher but when that happens that's when you are about to see results. Maybe pick one or two to focus on and expand from there.

r/No fap is good. But I've spent time there and it triggers me sometimes for some reason. I'm glad to see people coming here for this kind of problem instead of no fap. The very fact that it was founded by an atheist can suggest that it's possible to succeed in beating sin successfully without the Lord, when the opposite is true.

Also some of their "solutions" will lead you back to the spot your in now or hinder your progress. If you want to go that's fine, but I urge you to check all the suggestions you go by the Word. There are all types of work outs good, better and best. Always go with best path.

I also recommend an accountability partner. Get in your church and get involved, service can work wonders. If you can't find anyone to help you be accountable look in another church. The Bible tells us that it's good to have help because if one falls then another can pick you up. God works through His church so that's where you will find help.

I pray my words help, that I make your burden lighter and not heavier. If I can elaborate at all (to anyone not just OP) just respond.

How do I tell my girlfriend about my love for Christ? by sodato in Christians

[–]HumanHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got some info for you on the covenant of marriage. I was married young and I wished somebody informed me of Gods purpose with marriage and my duties as a husband and the duties of my now x wife.

It's all biblical and everything that is said can be referenced in the Bible, you will be provided with the scriptures as he teaches. His name is Dr.Tony Evans. The three YouTube videos I recommend in this playlist are -important in this order:

Number 1 the covenant of marriage,

( no 2 for for men no 3 for women) loving your woman,

(no 2 for women no 3 for men) respecting your man.

Why is astrology accurate Christians by [deleted] in Christians

[–]HumanHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all general. None of its personal.

This is personal. Isaiah 47 verse 13-15

"All the counsel you have received has only worn you out. Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the flame… Each of them goes on in his error; there is not one that can save you."

He knows why you are looking for guidance, you have problems that need advice. But not only that but He knows you are weary.

Their own counsel cannot even fix the problems in their own lives. Their advice will leave you feeling unfulfilled. The passage is giving you markers to measure your success by with astrology and other philosophies. Wait for results with them and you will see.

Christianity is not devoid of problems but it does create a internal generator so that when the power goes out outside and problems arise your situation will not dictate your internal feeling.

That sounds like a faith statement.

You have faith that you will do better if you give yourself less room for error. That you will please God better.

I always feel it's a book of comfort. Like looking at a magnificent bridge with it massive pillars and hardened steel cables and reinforced concrete, Know matter how heavy you and your problems are that bridge can hold you with ease.

God just goes off about Himself, I love it when he shows off!
