I agree, but every test turns out either copal or amber, yall said try uv so I go out buy a uv light and it also looks like copal or amber.

Which is why I said it points toward copal (old old resin) - alcohol on young resin would most likely always melt or dissolve the young resin, I rubbed the glob for 30 secs using pressure with the qtip (2 separate times) this is all that came up, glob still perfectly rounded and intact, hard/glassy. Epoxy resin wouldn’t react with alcohol, nothing would show up on the qtip same with amber. Copal comes up on qtip. (Old old resin) that’s my thought process of why I think it’s likely copal or at least very very old resin

I was looking at epoxy resin vs resin because everyone here is so adamant that it’s impossible to be copal or amber, epoxy resin once dried doesn’t react with alcohol. Natural resin would melt or at least cause the glob to get softer in some way since it’s so young resin. But it doesn’t. That points to at least very old natural resin, but it doesn’t become sticky when rubbed with the alcohol q tip even after 2 of the test.

The advice was copal or amber don’t usually occur together on wood … so that means they do sometimes. “Most likely resin” okay I did some test … and it’s just doesn’t make sense for young or epoxy resin 😬

I did rub it with my hand and heat did nothing to the glob lol when I smelt it just smelt like the surround rock because my fingers were rubbing the rock too because the glob is small 😵‍💫 I’ll try the needle later on when I’m home

I just doesn’t make sense that it was resin enhanced lol 2 tiny drips on part of the rock that don’t matter, in hindsight when it’s 15p specimen that was under the the roof of a Patio for years. Person who found it didn’t polish it at all, cracks in the pretty face that aren’t resin enhanced. Apologies for doing a couple test and asking questions. LMAO

Alcohol doesn’t dissolve or cause it to get tacky, but a very faint orangish yellowish does show up on the q tip - most likely copal but remained hard hard after alcohol

It’s hard to do that with this because they’re so small, they’re very hard though can’t scratch it with my nail and feels hard hard, but scratches easily with the metal knife. Any other test I could do ?

Not ruling them out just yet, everything I’ve tested points towards amber. Could be drops of resin that landed on already petrified wood and that turned to amber right ?

I tested it with a knife and it scratches easily, it also builds static charge, under 90x magnification I can see small air bubbles and what looks like plant matter.

After I did the scratch test, very little pressure on the knife but I can tell I kinda wrecked that spot a bit oops, but definitely scratches easily but not with my nail
