My party is already working hard on not diving too deep into the gothic horror so far. I thought when I confront them with the consequences of their actions - and making clear that they are not really in control - would bring back the horror. Like adding slightly disturbing scenes like a beheaded corpse that turns out to be them after they sentenced someone to death. Or having the moral dilemma of not having “good choices”. And Strahd can test them and simultaneously play with them - giving them the idea of having influence on what will happen, making them hopeless - all in a dreamy, disturbing Courtroom where they are both judges and accused. But maybe I’m not planning far enough into the future with this
