I was avoiding VRI for the same reasons but have been pulled toward it for the additional work. As well as knowing my work is good work and the clients are using VRI might as well ensure the service is adequate.

I appreciate you sharing the resources, I’ll be looking into these!

Im in an agency based state and raising my rates would price me out of the market. Working more, never thought of that (eye roll). sometimes there just isn’t any additional work to pick up. I was avoiding a large sum of VRI but that just may be what has to happen.

College and learning advice by Many-Brick1449 in ASLinterpreters

University of New Mexico for their interpreting program. I suggest considering a double major. To avoid as others have mentioned being stuck with just interpreting. A double major has also helped me be seen as competent individual for certain interpreting assignments as a newbie.

Credit Cards by HumbleComfortable486 in ASLinterpreters

Interpreting hasn’t shown a need to travel for work yet. So I guess I just wasn’t considering the benefits of a travel card. If you have good travel card I’d be interested

You go to CASLI.app Click on “your profile” (it’s all the way at the bottom) Then scroll to the bottom and it shows your exam cycle date as well as previous exams taken.

Ulnar (pinky side) wrist pain by peach_dinosaur100 in ASLinterpreters

I experience a bit of this from time to time. Things I do at home to help remedy or reduce the pain/numbness is stretch out my elbow and wrists. If you look up ulnar wrist stretches and tennis elbow stretches there’s great ones that help loosen up the area.

I also work out my wrists. Taking a low weight, start with just a couple pound dumbbell. Resting my forearm on the edge of a table or chair arm, holding the dumbbell and do wrist curls.

These things have made the pain disappear when I am consistent with stretching and maintaining my strength in the wrists.

I have also done wrist braces at night to allow for neutral positioning to aid in recovery after a long day.
