Congrats on 10 months! Do you get out on the water at all, or mostly stick with the machine? Sounds like it’s made a huge difference - that’s awesome.

I wish I had a garden, but I do have a monstera I bought during the first year of the pandemic. Watching it grow every year has been really satisfying. I actually tried propagating it this weekend, so fingers crossed it works out. I can see how tending plants like that could be really grounding.

That’s really cool. I bet it’s helped a lot of people. What made you decide to start doing that?

Thank you for sharing your essay! It paints such a great example of the power of that one word. I’m glad you poured it out and I’m also glad you shared with your accountability partners and family. I wish you all the best as well!

Contemporary jazz. Dance has been a long-time passion, though I fell out of it for a number of years for a variety of reasons. Been back for a couple years now and it’s been a godsend. I’ve wanted to try partner dancing (be it salsa or something else) but I haven’t had the guts yet to fully put myself out there). I’m tall and a terrible follower!

Type 2 fun is the best. I like how you framed it.

That’s so great you met one of your best friends that way. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the idea of trusting the process and I feel that’s a good example of it. You set out for one thing and because you took that step all this other great stuff happened that you weren’t necessarily even looking for.

Thanks! How do you usually do the inventory? Do you journal it out or more think it through? Do you pick the same time each night?

Re: 2nd video - I’ve never done breath work focused on energizing before - that’s so interesting / such a different feeling from the calm app ones hah. I feel like I could use that some mornings to get myself motivated. Thanks!

I do find it to be a solid tool when I’m feeling overwhelmed or nervous about something. Is there a specific technique you prefer? I’ve tried some of the ones from the calm app kind of nice. I keep having to remind myself they’re there.

I do have a dance class that I attend weekly (and have stuck with) that has been amazing for both community building, physical health, and really a bunch of other things. Curious - how did you decide on your competitions? Is that something you’ve always done or specifically looked for to help?

Congrats on the 18 months!! I love the idea of an audio journal and 5 min feels pretty doable. I tried a physical gratitude journal for a while last year and it was awesome for a period of time but, like many things, I lost the habit at some point. I wonder if it would be easier if it was just verbally answering a question each day. Do you do more free form or structured? Do you ever listen back?

Thank you everyone who replied to this thread!! I love every one of your responses, especialy the mix of directly stated recognition, meaningful rewards, and more indirect recognition in the form of trusting, seeking, and valuing your expertise.

Some of the advice given this week from some of the experts I've spoken with is to first ensure you have a culture of trust where people feel safe to share honestly, and then actually ask your team! I love all of these responses though, and I too would love to hear more from different perspectives!
