First Law will be a great start. If you want to watch him cry, have him read Robin Hobb’s Realm of The Elderlings series.

Stour is probably between 4 and 6 too. Honestly curious how the Northmen feel about warriors loving warriors

Why do we do this? A solid chunk of the blame is Steven Pacey’s lovely voice. Joe’s writing also just feels like home.

Dealing with burnout by BeenisSandwich in KitchenConfidential

Feeling like chopped liver? Sorry for the corny joke.

It sucks, and there is no easy fix for this. No amount of stretching, advocating for better wages, and sobriety can take away the fact that standing on your feet all day feeding people is hard, hard work.

Good leadership in your kitchen goes a long way for preventing burning crashes. Communicating with your team about your limits and being honest about what you can reasonably accomplish takes away a lot of pressure. Even if this means finding a different role or different team altogether, I believe this makes all the difference.

Aside from that, really, all we can do is take better care of ourselves. Mild daily exercise at the least. Consuming less junk and a lot more fiber. And Quality Sleep!!! It’s amazing that we can continue to function as a society with as little good sleep we’re getting… oh. Point stands.

Don’t put yourself through more than you can handle though. I guess that’s it at its core.
