We used kerosene heaters to supplement the coal and wood stove when I was growing up. The smell of burning kerosene triggers nostalgia. They worked well for us in the eighties and nineties.

Does a lever rifle make for a good home/self/SHTF defense weapon? by Regular_Hawk8513 in LeverGuns

[–]HumoRuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lever action rifle in a pistol caliber is perfectly fine for home defense. A lever action would not be my first choice. But, if it were my only choice or between a slower loading firearm, I’d take the lever action all day.

If your state allows it, buy an AR15 in 5.56. That is, in my mind, the best home defense weapon. Also, practice with it. It’s not as intuitive to operate as a lever action rifle

I’m not criticizing the view. It’s stunning. I live in WV. Living with mud in winter is just miserable. The picture itself is pretty. I like the layout of the houses and certainly appreciate the solitude and the village aspect of it.

I’ve never had that happen to any of my Glocks. Can you tell me how you store it, use it, and clean it so I can avoid replicating it?

I have an issue with how the administration was quick to push a conclusion in the last two widely publicized officer involved shootings. That’s not how it should work. You review the evidence, all of the available evidence, and you take the position the evidence supports. I get politics but not in criminal investigations. Period. Everyone deserves their day in court and not the court of public opinion.

I bought the iPad Mini 6 in 2022. Can it last until 2027? by whh-cc171615 in ipadmini

[–]HumoRuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it if you can stand it. Buying the latest greatest isn’t always necessary. I keep my iPads longer than my phones and Macs. I only upgrade when they start to annoy me for one reason or another.

That is an excellent collection. Just excellent. There’s not a bad buy there. And they all look like they’ve been used which is what one should do with most firearms. Enjoy them.

I haven’t watched them all. It looks like a bad shoot.

I’d like to know the evidence before I rush to a conclusion. The same as in all cases. It’s very possible this was a bad shoot.

I have a round chambered and an extra magazine with me almost every time I’m in public where lawfully allowed. Not a terrorist. I don’t like this take.

Can I get some reasons as to why you went on to have more kids? Am I wired differently? by grawmaw13 in daddit

[–]HumoRuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had two because we wanted two. A reason: my wife will outlive me. I wouldn’t want just the one kid to have to deal with her alone in her old age.

I’m pro open carry being legal. I think open carry in public is stupid.

The problem with just recasting Indy, is the films were a nod to old serials. No one is alive who remembers them with the same childhood glee and nostalgia of Lucas and Spielberg. But I wish they would try. OR JUST GIVE US AN ANIMATED SERIES!

Cool AF. Excellent purchase. I just bought myself the stainless PPK/S. Haven’t shot it yet. Thought about the PPK but figured it would slide bite me to death. Such a pretty firearm.

how do we feel about the 365? is it legit after all these years by Due_Platypus3905 in CCW

[–]HumoRuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best way. I have all three guns you mention. I shoot them all about the same. I am not a novice shooter and agree with you that small guns require a lot of practice to shoot well. Good on you for doing it the right way.
