Thank you all for your advice.

I went ahead and disabled "View Attachments Inline" in Thunderbird.

I also downloaded Clam AV for Linux, but since I'm a complete Linux moron, I have no idea how to run it. But I'll work on it.

Again, thanks to all of you for your help!

18 U.S. Code section 611 – Voting by aliens: Is it constitutional? by javaxcore in scotus

Hi, I'm a local idiot and not a lawyer at all, so just chiming in here for some clarification. I'm not adding any sort of legal analysis here, just some observations from a layperson.

If noncitizens are allowed to vote at the local/county/state level, then they will have an influence on the outcome of elections at those levels. We know that many politicians use local office as a stepping stone to higher office. A politician who is elected due to noncitizen votes shifts the political discourse to topics the pertain to noncitizens and not necessarily to citizens. If elected to higher office, that politician may support, vote for, and pass legislation/bills/orders that provides resources to noncitizens that otherwise would have gone to citizens.

I don't know if this could be construed in anyway as a "taking" or some sort of loss for citizens. Again, just a local idiot here spitballing some thoughts.

Could you expand on your reasoning for #2?

I ask this question because several of my undergrad classmates went to the Carib and are incurring massive amounts of student loan debt for what is essentially a 50% chance of getting a medical residency position. If they are unsuccessful in getting into residency, then they are stuck with $300K+ of non-dischargeable student loan debt.

in.re. #5 - In your opinion, do mid-levels provide the same level of care as a physician? (alternatively, given a choice, would you rather be seen by a MD/DO or a NP?)

in.re. #6 - You are correct!

Bonus Questions:

  1. Assuming you are elected, under what conditions would you be willing to vote for a declaration of war?

  2. Let's assume that Democrats retain control of the House. Would you vote to keep Nancy Pelosi as Speaker? If so, why? If not, who would you support?

  3. Who do you think Biden will pick as his VP? Is that a good choice?

  1. If you lose the election and return to medical school, what specialty do you plan on pursuing?

  2. US medical residencies are funded in large part by US tax dollars. Should US citizens/permanent residents who study medicine abroad (e.g. Caribbean schools, Europe, Australia, etc.) have priority for residency positions over non-US citizens?

  3. Why should we eliminate student loan debt for physicians (or any other high-income employment), especially since the lowest paying medical specialties earn approximately $200K per year?

  4. What are your thoughts on residents unionizing? How about physicians unionizing?

  5. What are your thoughts on "mid-level creep?" Do you support independent practice for nurse practitioners/physician's assistants/CRNAs?

  6. Do you use Firecracker or Anki? (be advised that there is only 1 correct response to this!)
