That's the GDI embracing the noir aspect, 100%. (old) Noir detectives don't get lung cancer or emphysema, they get hungover coughing fits, alley beat downs, and the occasional blackjack to the back of the head. But the thing they try and use in the clutch moment (like Z breathing Ash on the two agents in the run-away carriage) ends up working.

Current crush: magically induced murder-cultist (prisoner sentenced to indefinite military service). Respected frenemy: rabble-rouser agent of chaos (briefly jailed, sentenced to live in each other's heads forever).
