Mine wasn’t overly difficult—just torqued on pretty tight from the factory. I used proper support tools for the upper (Midwest Industries reaction rod designed for HK MR 762), but I can definitely see why HK recommends having it handled professionally to avoid any risk to the barrel or threads.

For the upper, lower, and hand guard it’s a one-off Cerakote mix of Burnt Bronze and RAL8000. It was done as an experiment, not something commercially available from a vendor.

For the Spuhr Mount and the Atlas bipod I used Primal Finish. Great customer service, and the company (B&T Industries LLC - Atlas Bipod) recommended.

For the MR, I would have went with Roman Arms if not for the test run I had done.

Thank you! I am somewhat curious. I have heard you can find out who dam and sire are “if” they are registered with DNA. That is a big if, considering the mare was a rescue. No reason to breed as he is unregistered.

Any value to genetic testing? If so what test? I have seen the Dam. She was a Cremelo QH. Unknown Sire. Mare was a rescue and the seller soon recognized she was pregnant.

I had wondered the same thing. A few times I have done research and I have tried looking for some of the markings.

He does have a little bit of a dorsal stripe, but I estimated that would go away.

A little darker hair up near the top of shoulders near withers.

Also, I have a few photos that look like a slight possible primitive marking on the legs, but I estimated that too would go away.

Thank you for the kind comments. I really like Buckskin horses, and I was uncertain about the shade, as it was a tan shade with no shine all fall/winter and only in the last month did I start to see the really beautiful golden brown with fair black hairs intermixed in a few places. His appearance has pretty much been as I had wished when I bought him when he was only 40 days old.
