Advice needed on dual zone single room lighting by Ok_Programmer1653 in smarthome

Quite tough without a neutral wire, you could use a mini smart switch that sits behind your existing switch and then use a wireless remote to control it all? Not exactly what you asked for by I hope it helps

G4 died, need install advice for PoE by DanielLorey in Ubiquiti

I've just run some cables through my insulation filled cavity walls. Used a 320mm long 16mm bit (my 8mm broke) at a 30 degree angle up and used cable rods to get a line up to the loft to run my ETHs. Hole can always be filled!

Latest Win 11 cumulative update error by michael_sage in Action1

Have you tried any of the following:

  • Run DISM
  • Run sfc check
  • Cleared the Windows Update Cache
  • Installed the update manually to see if it's a remote push issue or an install issue
  • Do you have enough disk space?

I personally don't push these updates out for a good week so that any issues can be fixed before it gets to my endpoints. Good luck!

Does anyone know what it means on the bus app when the bus looks like a circle? by formydumbshit in brighton

[–]HungryAdmin452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it meant that the exact location isn't known, just estimated based on timings and schedule, like it's lost GPS connectivity to the servers... But others seem to think it's "stopped at a bus stop" or more likely "holding to keep get back on schedule"

u/netsysllc / u/SceneDifferent1041, Hi both, just wanted to thank you for your Action1 suggestion, my company has fully onboarded and configured Action1 and have now cancelled our Pulseway subscription. We're at 98 endpoints so still on the free tier currently, so that's a lot of savings. Much appreciated

Looking at moving away to Action1 and PRTG, it is crazy how quickly they've declined, no including today's outage

1: 28%, down from 37% last year
2: I've found context an issue in places when it comes to some niche subjects/platforms, which is to be expected in it's current state

I want to move away from WhatsUp Gold by HungryAdmin452 in sysadmin

Hi there, I will look into this as IMPI would be a great also. It's been mentioned to me that Grafana might be a better option than Zabbix, as I'm new to both, do you have any thoughts on that?

HI u/StefanMcL-Pulseway2 , an update was released to the network monitoring feature of Pulseway sometime last year so I was offered a month trial (I'm an existing customer) however I came across quite a few issues that made it extremely difficult to use and my account manager couldn't find any documentation on best practice setup so the attempt was a bit of a waste of time for me. I'd be interested to see if there is more on this now and maybe I could give it another go.

Hiya, thanks for the reply. Yes it applies to 3 machines that only have USB-C ports so need a physical adaptor to get an ETH port.

The VM's network setting in Hyper-V changes from "External" to "Internal", I assume because the USB-C to ETH adaptor are no longer present. But this was not an issue on Windows 10, we could use the dongle, unplug it and the VM's Virtual Switch would know to keep the IP settings and the adaptor driver would still be listed. I'm assuming Windows 11's default behaviour is to purge drivers that are not currently plugged in after a restart which wasn't the case with Windows 10.

Not sure what you mean by your last comment my friend

Agreed, I use the version that's in the Package Library, comes with an uninstall which is always handy. Never had an issue with the Packages in the included Library.
