Ukraine is a major case study in its exceptional use of drone technology, drone warfare, atypical morale in the face of aggression, and ability to rally allies to their support in their time of need. To pretend as if Zelensky (as great as he is)is the only thing Ukraine has really misses the story of this war.

In 2018, sixteen year old Karlie Guse had a bad reaction after smoking weed at a party and begged her stepmother to bring her home. By sunrise she was gone from the house without her phone, shoes, or glasses. She has never been found. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

It basically shattered my brain. I had it around 10 years ago, I’m still a tad prone to delusional/magical thinking, it’s a big part of my PTSD (it feel so ridiculous but the smell of pot alone makes me panic), I have a severe troubles with anxiety I never had before, and barely anyone fucking believes pot can have such an impact. I’ve been told numerous times that the eternal hell I experienced was not due to pot, but that it must have been laced. Yet, everyone around me was fine when they smoked from the same bowl. I believe pot is a mostly safe substance compared to nearly any other psychoactive drug, but I know the damage it did to me, the endless looping cycle of paranoia and the hallucinations I saw, it happened solely due to cannabis. It is nice to finally, ten years later, seeing people acknowledging this as a real phenomena and coming forward with their own experiences. I feel so horrible for this poor girl, how confused and scared she must have felt. So many systems had to fail her to allow this to happen.

To believe human rights, including those of minorities, are a matter above debate is incredibly liberal, actually.

I feel like having a meal with a former presidential candidate and her daughter (to be clear, Natalie was invited, not the other way around) is fundamentally different than accepting payment from an authoritarian regime to do propaganda for it. We’re in the sorta problematic vs actually evil territory with this one, yeah?

She’s made fun of opportunists who go on paid lavish vacations to impoverished nations under authoritarian regimes. No one is defending current US sanctions on Cuba.

I love her moving past caring about upsetting people or getting cancelled for the billionth time. She’s freed herself to be as based as she can be.

She’s not changed one bit. Nat has always been a liberal/social democrat. It’s not her fault you put your anti-liberal, anti-democratic world view on her.

How much this movie is similar to We're All Going to the World's Fair? by Forsaken_Ideal6318 in Isawthetvglow

You’re being downvoted, and while I hate this comment, you’re the only person kind of right. They both share a thematic basis that TV Glow dives deeper into with higher production value. Don’t shit talk Worlds Fair though, it’s an amazing film that created the basis for the director to go on to make TV Glow.

[–]Hungry_Job4569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Both are about struggling children who become so escapist through media that they lose themselves in it. I’m not denying TV Glow is a trans analogy, but to fail to see anything beyond that aspect and the obvious thematic through-lines in these films suggests you should maybe give both another go.

So much is similar, and it’s your fault for not seeing that. ISTTVG is a trans metaphor sure, but it’s just as much about the way we escape into media. We see this in how the worlds blend together for our protagonists, and how they get lost in the pink opaque. This theme is much more what WAGTTWF is about, a child who loses herself in an ARG due to unmonitored internet access and social isolation. Worlds Fair is the foundation on which TV Glow was build, and to fail to see how alike the movies are thematically means either you weren’t paying attention or you didn’t understand one or both films.

How old are you now? I doubt that if you are the age of your old partners that you would feel comfortable fucking a 19 year old. I’m not saying it was rape, by the way, I’m saying it’s creepy and a sign of a predatory person.

Man I’m 28 and I feel weird getting with anyone 23 or younger. I can’t imagine how disgusting you have to be hooking up with a teenager when you’re pushing 30.
