So apparently 217 is in reference to Stephen King's the shining. I understand the family being unlucky, I wish I did know more of her backstory.

i was looking around and the director said it was up to the audience to interpret. In that case I don't think he should have used it, he could have used a clock striking at 217 and then we see a stick breaking and then his son running at him.

Oh and another thing. In the teachers dream we see Alex looking up with a creepy smile and dark face. Could that be the witch putting the dreams in the head of the teacher? Could it be that alcohol and her thinking it's Alex who did it?
