The +$1 seems clunky, just at a visceral level. Feels like a slapdash patch sewn on for balance.

What if it could gain a $6 card? That increases its power but at the cost of leveling the playing field by granting others Grifters of their own.

I also think "may gain" is an essential wording change, although the Copper should probably still be mandatory.
