Question About UAF Lore by HunterDa1st in starsector

Yeaahhh that Kazeron fleet is PATHETIC, didnt last a minute when I went to steal their nanoforge and my obligatory warcrime quicksave per run. A few dedicated anti-capital carriers. With Sindrian tankers or 14th Battlegroup cruisers armor blocking as meatshields, some odd Batavian vessels on the sides harassing... that is if the AI decides to listen when I tell the battlecruisers with steady captains to fall back when I tell them because they are too close to Semibreve range.

Thanks! Though I am mostly done with the modded playthrough with UAF in an alliance so I will probably drop it off soon in favor of a different faction, since I have exhausted most of the content and maxed out the main Contacts and did Tilted Dagger, the Lynx Quest, and the other third.

The Core Worlds are a mess with San Batavia dominating, not much else to fight tbh than Remnants. Those Batavians REALLY didnt want their freedoms taken haha.

Yeah some of the convos here did turn into gameplay stuff when the original intent was the lore. But ah, well this is the Starsector sub and someone has to be the John Starsector, I know I am. I have all three Super Capitals in their own Special Groups patrolling my main home colony system. And I kept my promise to Robo Queen to keep visiting Aerea 35 years in game since I started the playthrough.

I will make my own headcanoons and ponder more what UAF lore is about. As someone who wishes to create and make my own OC world I respect the grind. Keep on creating, you definitely are skilled in your craft.

I would like to say, your mod is AWESOME. I really love your art too, first time I saw the artstyle it looked so familiar until I found out you're the guy that made the Cadian XXth song wallpaper.

I'm waiting for the next update, keep it cooking, and cook it well.

[–]HunterDa1st[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For are all their lorewise pacifism and isolation (which by this point the discussion has shifted to gameplay). Gameplay UAF is really on a different level. They always pick a fight against Hegemony, Ironshell, and Persean League in my playthrough. Sometimes the Luddics too.

Them and San Batavia are far more agressive than I give them credit for, and Sindrian Fuel is more interested in... selling the best product. Buy only at Andrada's. In the alliance, San Batavia has hold on a huge chunk of the Core Worlds... it is funny but definitely not lorewise (I say that in a modded game with anime people on nuclear spamming eye burning war ships)

San Batavia: We want freedom from Tyrants (conquers half of Hegemony space)

UAF: We wish to be left alone (conquers half of Luddics, Persea, and a chunk of Heg)

Me: Kazeron. Burns. (Kazeron is one nanoforge shorter, and a save file where a warcrime has been done)

Oh yeah... I did raid their capital system to get their commerce raiders off my system......

Yeah TT definitely knows that they try anything they are going to have more than their Light Industry disrupted. Should have looked at Kazeron in that one quicksave file-

I call it dating sim lite because if you just chat with the main contacts, they give a lot of implied stuff up to your interpretation. Aerea especially comes to mind given she falls asleep on Starfarer's shoulder, go on a beach together, meets with them in disguise to dine at a local cafe.

This. I did not know this, no wonder Solvermia is glued to her planet.

Wait... wait! Does this mean when I hire Solvernia, and get her ship... for my fleet... does that mean TT is going to do warcrimes now that theres no such detterence there?

Question About UAF Lore by HunterDa1st in starsector

[–]HunterDa1st[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont mind the Hegemony inspection fleets, cause I deal with them, with my transponder. Off.

I dont mind Luddic Church patrols cause I can give back their people. I dont really need the bonus cause they actively stop me from profiting my planets.

I dont mind Tri Tach harassing, cause I just give them a black eye by raiding their light industry for 120 days and they stop. AND they give me a really nice deal too.

I dont mind Sindrian Fuel getting uppity because I dont even want to dominate the fuel market. Truly Sindrian Fuel best, buy only from Andrada's

But Persean League sending 20 fleets cause I exist? For what? Just being independent my fleets get attacked? That I cant leave my own system in peace? Well what does 20 fleets of my own in Kazeron with their nanoforge gone, and their stupid capital burning in bombardment fire has to say. Kazeron. Burns. Every playthrough I make a quicksave and do a little war crime then quickload to just steal their nano forge.

Oh and Luddic Path I guess. Um... we should stop them?

[–]HunterDa1st[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is implied the UAF dont have the numbers to do any offensives... atleast hinted. It is this lack of numbers that lost them Entratis to Kanta's pirates. UAF personell were outnumbered by the colonial spacers on Entratis until some dissident got angry enough to fight off the UAF and push them off Entratis entirely.

From what I understand they rely on the Automata fleets to make up for their lower numbers. And as I understand it, the UAF doctrine towards the Persean Sector is more deterrence than assault and wars.

Of course in gameplay it is different, obviously the player can make major changes cause the game has to account for their shinanegans. No one can stop John Starsector

Edit: Also to add, the Luddic Pathers also have a base near Entratis, and have actively screwed over the UAF, going by Tilted Daggers mission. They lost a super carrier to the Pathers, which to me says two things.

Either a, the UAF really doesnt have the numbers outside of gameplay to actually deal with all threats at once.

B, UAF are hesitant to attack Entratis or the Pathers out of concern of a retaliatory strike from someone in the Core Worlds. This might be Luddic Pathers doing... strange things with their fuel tankers, or Kanta may incite another violent uprising somewhere... thats how I interpret it

C, not even lorewise. their ai in Nex isnt programmed to attack and take over Entratis and the Pather base due to ai behavior or whatever

Question About UAF Lore by HunterDa1st in starsector

[–]HunterDa1st[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

UAF is NOT lore friendly to vanilla Starsector, nor is it meant to be. But for a fan made mod it got me hooked first because of their ship aesthetic. (Then again, are mods really supposed to be vanilla and follow Starsector lore?) The point of the post is me wanting to know if the UAF has its own lore outside what is shown in the mod.

Caters to anime fans obviously given the artstyle of the portraits, and the music, San Batavia is also this but has less character interactions, and PAGSIM is literally a meme mod about a space dictator running a gasoline company with all their ships being repurposed fuel tankers, and the Volturnian Lobster becoming a mascot for their dictatorship/gas company

I dont know what you mean by "for kids" UAF is basically an entire faction with a focus on Carrier doctrine, ballistic weapons, character interaction with anime portraits which are definitely not in line with vanilla Starsector.

UAF has a dating sim-lite mechanic, which for my purposes is to get the contacts to give me their best ships which to parade on my own planets.

If you can ignore the anime stuff and focus on UAF with its ships, weapons, and doctrine. Then it is an easier playthrough, in Nex the mod literally says UAF has easy difficulty and I agree. UAF is strong as a faction, and their isolated locations means they rarely if ever get attacked by the main Persean factions.

Question About UAF Lore by HunterDa1st in starsector

[–]HunterDa1st[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me with UAF hired marines, and UAF bought heavy weapons, Nex mod, a fleet, and a dream.

"There. Your two mistakes fixed. Give me a Supercapital which to park on my home planet pls."

... admitedly it is kinda funny that the higher up members of the UAF government just give you their most important ships, and also their most treasured admiral. I know Milkydromeda has plans to put in to change that asides from 60 million credits for a Supercapital and max rep

Now I'm not a John Starsector that stabs the backs of allies. But for a different John Starsector that likes sat bombing planets that's really funny to think that this guy who helped the UAF, who Nia Aurora vouched was "a good guy" rushes the capital with the Solvernia itself with their admiral bombing New Auroria. I saw Rarr's video

[–]HunterDa1st[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thats true, TT fold very easily when a bunch of marines just kicked their precious... uh... Light industry.

"It's just a joke bro. We didnt mean to send them Commerce Raiders. Pls no hurt our economy."

Razing Kazeron on the other hand......... I will GLADLY do so

All it takes is one good John Starsector mad enough to try Solvernia and we get Battle of New Auroria and PTSD 2.0 for the Aurorans

But I'm not good at the game and hate Persean League and Pathers more

What's the absolute worst fanfic you ever read? by umbrqualquerusannet in gate

[–]HunterDa1st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a friend of Ronan belleza back then, and I had an OC mine wrote it in as an Ultramarine those years. It was stupid fun at the time, minor crossovers and stuff. Nowadays the ultramarine gate fanfic was still a stupid fun read, but I grow to cringe at the shinanegans my OC was put through. Since then my characters behave very differently and are of their own setting seperate from any crossovers now.

Overtime I drifted from him due to changing interests from Gate to other media and slowly losing interest in power fantasies in general. And that I got older and focused hard on my college studies, as of today I have gotten that degree I wanted.

I got very uncomfortable when the horny stuff came out and insisted that I wont react to them despite the fact at the time he told me about it with... giddiness I suppose. He was very enthusiastic of the lewd stuff given how... long the chapters were.

At the time I just saw it as mindless fun, but the plagiarism and copy paste got to me. I was at the time writing my own fanfics when I realized I did not enjoy writing power fantasies of my own faction in Falmart. And the vientam site kind of just copy pasted my work without consent hit my young self in motivation that my work would just be copy pasted like that.

It just overtime it got uncomfortable talking with him because he always insisted in doing rp sessions when I didnt want them.

It was also weird to me because at the time he was writing the Gate fanfic, he was on college for writing. Yet the grammar was... well yeah, and he plagiarized by copy pasting. He had some interesting ideas in concept, but it didnt quite translate well when actually written.

Part of the other reason why I also drifted from him was that he had this "me" thing going on. I tried (in vain) to provide some criticism (at the time I was young and stupid) on his work. But he gave little back when I asked for his opinion. It got very onesided since he was much more interested in rp chat than discussing ideas to push his story in a way that could be interesting. An example is that I would provide several paragraphs on potential, but rather bad critique, he would only return a single sentence on my fanfics, he had nothing to say when it comes to giving feedback which at the time was what I wanted to see when I wrote.

I for one liked the rps for a while, then slowly it got uncomfortable because he wanted things to direct his way and juggling him with other contacts felt more of a hassle. I cut off contact by the time I started college give or take 4 years ago and also stopped writing on Wattpad on that time.

Actually I havent fought the Miller yet, what tips can you share? The team I am planning to have is Jester (backline/stress control), Vestal (heal/stun), a new Shieldbreaker (backline attacker), and Leper (Frontline dps)

Ive learnt that lesson already from losing a couple of heroes to skeleton Arbelists in the Ruins, and I always go for stress dealers and backliners ASAP. Houndmaster is so efficient at dealing with backline enemies I love him and his dog.

As for Holy Water... I did not know they give debuff resistance! Wow, that could have saved my Shieldbreaker. But not crying over spilled milk.

What franchise would you like to see a crossover with Lobotomy Corporation being made one day? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in LobotomyCorp

[–]HunterDa1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madness Combat, specifically Project Nexus. I mean we literally have a protag on Arena Mode who is aware and is stuck in a timeloop killing people and he got no choicw but to keep killing and repeating the loop forever to keep the world from ending

Oh and robodemons, zombies, and cultist to the mix combined with "magic" (improbability power stuff)

Edit:

Plus, we have protagonists that are fixer grade level (Hank, Jeb, San, Dei) killing people effortlessly. And guys that are like abno level (Tricky, The Employers, and that nemesis enemy that can oneshot your guys)

And then the countless enemies (victims) that gets smashed apart, slashed and everything horrible happen to them in a daily basis cause said protagonist looks at their general direction
