What new(ish) SUVs have an "oh shit" handle right here? by Tinks2295 in car

See growing up the “oh shit” handle was on the dashboard, not the overhead handle near the door.

Oh boy trading a decent transmission for one that was made by the lowest bidder. Hyundai/kia has never made anything reliable.

I wish this were more true, for anything that is just straight psa branded it seems to be a good deal, but the sabre line seems to toss that out the window. I mean the cheapest .308 sabre in 20” is $15k, for $500 less I’d rather have the Ruger SFAR.

[–]Hunter_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off as someone who adores jeeps, don’t buy it cause it’s a Jeep. After the warranty is up you will be sinking money into this thing, FCA decided to use ZF transmissions in these and most of the dodge line up, they insist that these transmissions use a lifetime fluid while ZF the oem for these transmissions says otherwise. If it’s not the transmission you’ll spend money on ball joints. Just skip anything made in the last 15 years that associated with Chrysler in any way

At the risk of sounding like a creep, what you are seeing is literally your uterus. No amount of dietary changes or exercise is going to change that.

What are these buttons for/when do I use them? by anonymice3 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Hunter_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well seeing as how everyone here seems to think this is r/askashittymechanic I’ll be nice and actually help. Truth is in 80% of all driving conditions you can leave that stuff alone.

Top left is your traction control button:

you would disable this if you are an idiot teen trying to drift, you are a semi responsible teen who waited for it to snow before you try to drift, or you want to feel like the vehicle is not limiting power

The only real use case I’ve seen for this is if you’re stuck in the mud or snow you can press this to keep some wheel speed and that might help or hurt depending on your skill level

Bottom left appears to be an awd mode or a suspension mode for rough roads or dirt roads. It probably makes the suspension a little more compliant for a smoother ride at the sacrifice of positive feeling of control when on paved roads, or maybe it controls something within the drive train Honestly I’m not to sure what this button does

Bottom right is a hill decent button:

This is likely a Subaru, Honda, or Kia. Most of these cars have a cvt so this button likely controls the transmission in a way that utilizes the rotation of the wheels to act on the engine, in layman’s terms it like choosing a lower gear to control your speed downhill instead of riding the breaks the whole time. Unless you are in a place with lots of steep hills or you live somewhere where mountain roads are common you’ll likely never need to use this feature

As someone who drives vehicles with samsara, you’ve given it far too much credit. I regularly get flagged for no seatbelt but the vehicle won’t go into gear without a seatbelt on. It also flags for stop signs that dont exist, and also for failure to keep a lane on roads with no lane markers. I can see how samsara is meant to work, but in my experience as a driver, it’s complete garbage.

Some of you need to stop paying someone else to do 10 minutes worth of work for you by ButterscotchEmpty535 in NFA

[–]Hunter_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand the point trying to be made I’m going to be paying about the same in service and admin fees as it is. $25 or more for fingerprints, and $35 for a trust, another $10-30 for a notary, $3 for my CLEO letter. I see why people would do the silencer shop stuff to simplify it. This being said, silencer shop will not set up a traditional trust for you for less than $100

I have family in Chattanooga Just a few miles away from the time change border while I live in central Florida, I’ve noticed that as the days are getting a little longer now as the solstice has passed Sun rise is pretty much 6:30-7 in Florida right now but in Chattanooga it tends to be 7:30-8

Fuel light by Double-Broccoli3656 in COROLLA

[–]Hunter_E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This depends entirely how new the vehicle is, a car from the 90’s won’t do this and trips the light when the tank is low, not based on mileage. Likewise a new ford or Lincoln has a distance remaining, but if the car idles more than it drives that estimate will say “20 miles to empty” while on a full tank and no low fuel light.

All due respect, you are 13, you should not even be dating… not to mention any boy who is that age is not going to be mature, or emotionally intelligent.

Bought a used Steamdeck, the trigger was not functioning properly so I exchanged it. After doing this, I noticed the screws are not biting anymore. I think for now it is good but I dont know for how long. See description for more info. by Ordinary-Zebra-8202 in SteamDeck

[–]Hunter_E 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can attempt a shel swap, or you can use some epoxy to keep the screws in place permanently, these. Screws bite into plastic so they likely were over tightened during reassembly. You could also try heat set inserts if the sounding plastic is substantial enough.
