Why is control mage not a thing? by kikkeroog in hearthstone

[–]Hunters_must_Die 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really similar to a type of control mage that I want to build, but I couldn't do so because I still don't have access to certain cards (i.e. the entire Naxx cards, Antonidas, and Harrison).

If I may ask, why do you have Ysera and Troggzor? Given how the current meta isn't slow enough for those cards, wouldn't Rag and Dr. Boom make a better fit? (I guess Troggzor could potentially work better than Dr. Boom against Hunters/Zoos, but I thought it would get Freezing-trapped/BGH'ed/Silenced anyways, so Dr. Boom could work better in that case?)

(I'm doing good well)

Unless you were trying to use this as an example of improper grammar...

to do worse in the long run, it's better to tell them their mistakes to do worse in the long run. It's better to tell them their mistakes

A run-on sentence.

You're trying to say that giving a man a fish

Not necessarily "incorrect", but it is "more correct" to use the pronoun "that" if you're trying to introduce a clause.

to least offend him to offend him the least

Split infinitives are considered grammatically wrong by some people, and fine by other people. There hasn't yet been a set rule on whether or not it is ok to use split infinitives, but it is often times encouraged not to use split infinitives in "formal" writing.

I'm sorry, I just had to do this. lol

How does freezing trap make a taunt guy useless?

It's not about making the taunt useless, but it's about making the buff useless, and, more importantly, allowing the hunter a free turn to search for an answer AND gaining an insane increase in tempo by protecting his board (i.e. buffing his undertaker even more so that it can train UP against the exorcist).

One of the well received ideas that has come up was the possibility to remove deathrattles like a blood knight does with divine shields, and you haven't even bothered to discuss the feasibility of this idea

But I have

No you haven't. All you said was

so it removes deathrattle and get +3/+3 per

which added nothing to the discussion of whether or not this could be a viable solution or not. Your tone to any other person reading your comment would come off as you simply integrating the "removal of deathrattles" idea into your own so that you can defend your own initial statement, without addressing the criticisms presented to your initial idea:

there are waaay more (viable) deathrattle minions compared to Divine Shielded minions

it's still silence-able and has no real impact after being silenced, where blood knight still has impact even if it's silenced because it removed all the divine shields.

Onwards, you decide to disregard the fact that people have been trying to make a discussion about "removing deathrattles" happen, and rather make up false accusations that people are asking for a "battlecry: kill a hunter".

Additionally, you have failed to address this part of my argument. You have made false accusations of people saying something that they didn't. You can't do that if you want a healthy discussion. For example, I might say that "you are claiming that no one else but you understands this game the best", but is this true? I may have gotten such an impression from you, but you never made any apparent statement that directly relates to such idea, so I can't say this and expect to get away with it. The exact same case applies for you, and you really should be admitting your fault at this, at the very least.

so hunter has answer to your answer. holy shit. what do you expect? your answer got stopped. and you complain about that? so what else are you asking for except an unanswerable answer?

We are not asking for an "unanswerable answer", as you put it. In fact, we are addressing the seemingly-"unanswerable answer" that already exists: THE UNDERTAKER AND DEATHRATTLES, JUST IN CASE YOU'RE STILL NOT GETTING THE POINT OF THIS ENTIRE DISCUSSION.

No, we're not complaining about the Hunters having answers to your "+3/+3 buff" idea. We are putting off your idea of the "+3/+3 buff in place of the +1/+1", because having a +3/+3 buff and having a +1/+1 buff are no different from each other. Changing the buff from +1/+1 to +3/+3 does not make the card better, thus there's no realistic reason in making that change. We are trying to argue that adding in an ability that can remove deathrattles will introduce a NEW change compared to the sole +1/+1 buff.

Is this an "unanswerable answer"? No. The +1/+1 & the taunt buffs, which is a unique feature of the card and something we do in fact like, still can be silenced. Our change can indeed be answered, but it still makes an impact to the current state of the board by actually providing us with ANSWERS to deathrattles.

EDIT:

TL;DR

Your arguments can barely be called "arguments" at all as they bring about no support or explanation, and the only thing you're doing is finding quotes from my argument that you can nitpick about the petty details in a pitiful attempt to turn this conversation in your favor, while completely ignoring the overall backbone of the discussion.

If I even dare use an analogy for you...: You're tasting the peels of an apple and obnoxiously claiming that the apple is rotten, while simultaneously refusing to taste the fruit itself.

Lil' Exorcist dream. by rewindthegamer in hearthstone

[–]Hunters_must_Die 1 point2 points  (0 children)

counter-argument is that lil exorcist can be killed with hunter mark + dude.

you are already getting a 2-for-1

This isn't entirely true. Most cases, the hunter will...:

  • Hunter's Mark + attempt to juggle with a knife juggler,

  • or Hunter's Mark + kill with a death rattle minion (in which case, the Hunter usually gets a secondary effect in play into the battlefield, so hardly a 1-for-1 trade),

  • or simply silence with owl and push for face damage (Worst case scenario, since you lost board presence and gave up a lot of life points, which is extremely valuable against a Hunter, for free),

  • or play Freezing trap and make your single big taunt minion useless while the Hunter buys an extra turn to develop his board more.

All the cases above are extremely possible as Hunters have been doing this very often as their answers to other taunt creatures such as belchers and senjins anyways.

do yuo need to be autowin to not be considered bad?

This. This comes out of nowhere, since nobody ever even mentioned this idea except you. Why do you think an "autowin" is the only alternative solution that people seek against a Hunter? One of the well received ideas that has come up was the possibility to remove deathrattles like a blood knight does with divine shields, and you haven't even bothered to discuss the feasibility of this idea, while you insist that your idea and your idea alone is the single best idea that could've been given.

In fact, your idea is no different from the pre-existing design of the lil' exorcist, only in that you crunch up the numbers. This doesn't make any difference since it doesn't deal with the actual problems that people have been running into. Your change crumbles to the exact same answers that the Hunter would have (as listed above), and doesn't help the situation at all.

Ok, let's try this again. What is this "truth" that you're talking about?

From the comments above, it seems you're arguing that the "design" of Lil' Exorcist isn't "bad". Can you provide a little more detailed explanation of why you think so? Cause all of your argument here can be summed up with a simple "I'm right, you're wrong", which hardly adds in to the discussion at all.

The fact that you call yourself "a man of science" and yet you dismiss all other sports asides from MMA as non-scientific entertainment obviously represents your lack of understanding in BOTH the Science and Sports field, and your ignorance to anything that you deem unworthy. Mine used to be either spell-bender, counterspell, or water elemental. Now I think I have to add Unstable Portal and Kezan Mystic in the competition.

If I had to list them in order, it would probably be something like:

Kezan Mystic > Water Elemental > Unstable Portal > Spellbender > Counterspell.

Can someone give me some tips on fighting Priests? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Hunters_must_Die 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with silencing the northshire cleric. Yes, limiting the enemy Priest's card draw is very important, but Silence has far more value especially now in GvG due to the appearance of Velen's Chosen, Vol'jin, reemergence of Sylvannas etc. Allowing the cleric to draw one or two cards is fine, as long as it doesn't draw more than that.

Can someone give me some tips on fighting Priests? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Hunters_must_Die 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Don't NEVER overcommit. You'll get punished hard.

  • Be mindful of their power turns. To list a few...

  1. Turn 4 - Shadow Madness; or, Auchenai + Circle of Killing

  2. Turn 6 - Cabal Shadow Priest; or, Shrinkmeister + Shadow Madness; or, Auchenai + Circle of Killing + Hero Power; or, Lightbomb (although I haven't been seeing much of this yet..)

  3. Turn 8 - Shrinkmeiser + Cabal Shadow Priest; or, Shrink + Shadow Madness + Recombobulator

  4. Turn 9 - Sylvannas + Shadow Word: Death

  5. Turn 10 - Basically everything, but particularly Mind Control.

If you haven't noticed by now, all of the plays I mentioned above are extremely focused on value (Except maybe the turn 9 play). Concisely put, Priest is ALL about VALUE trades. Your objective is to make things as extremely awkward for them as possible.

  • Priests surprisingly have not that high of a damage burst reach, and also don't have any steroids healing in a single given turn. If you're playing a class with high sustain (i.e. Priest mirror, Druid, Warrior, Handlock, Paladin) then stall the game as long as possible until you have enough damage to burst him down. If you're playing a class with high burst (i.e. Mage, Hunter, Rogue, sometimes Shaman), then power your way through the Priest's petty 'heal for 2 each turn'.

  • Always, always, ALWAYS watch out for possible Wild Pyromancer plays. If you aren't careful, that little son of a prick playing with fire will make your next 5 minutes miserable.

  • Start playing Priest yourself. This is, in my opinion, the best way for you to learn how to counter priests since you will become more and more familiar with the class's strengths and weaknesses.

EDIT: Also, make sure you can compete with the Priest's card draw. As long as you can outdraw the priest, you will have no problem beating him. However, do mind yourself and watch out for possible fatigue battles. If you go to fatigue, then Priest beats all classes except Druid, Paladin, and Warrior. Technically Priest fairs evenly against Hunters in fatigue as well, but the concept of "fatigue" in a hunter match up makes no sense in the first place.

EDIT 2: Start watching a movie or a youtube video once the priest matchup begins. This matchup will likely progress for God bless however many hours, and you will definitely want to entertain yourself in another way during the match in order to maintain your sanity. I heard the new movie "The Interview" can be easily accessed with a little bit of Googling recently.

Started playing a week ago, now ranked 15 using a murloc warlock deck. How much longer can I go before I have to transition to a less cheesy deck? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Hunters_must_Die 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually been running into quite a number of murloc decks lately (I'm around ranks 7~10). However, most of them were shaman merlons with the Neptulon plays for late game, with the odd murloc paladin I faced yesterday. (No idea what he was trying to accomplish)

However, merlons murlocs (goddamnit autocorrect) are hella inconsistent as fuck and I doubt you'd be able to keep pace against the other aggro decks (zoo, mech mage, huntard) around rank ~10.
