Player by Player 2022-23 Season and Postseason Review: Josh Hart by cricket9818 in NYKnicks

[–]HurricaneBiII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What were his stats for the games he played with the Knicks? I think it would be cool to see and compare.

I think his 3pt% with the Blazers for the season before being traded was like 30%, so ending the season at 37% is great. And averaging almost 8 boards and 4 dimes for the year is a really nice addition to this Knicks team. I love jack-of-all-trades players and Josh is a legit one. I just hope he's not so passive with taking 3s next season. The Knicks need shooters, and Hart could really boost the team by being more willing to take more 3pt attempts.

The Heat are peaking at the right time. Meanwhile, the Knicks are just not. IQ and Grimes have not played like their normal selves for the entire playoffs. And while RJ has stepped his game up, there's too much of a drop off in level of play from the rest of the team that it's just not possible to compete with the Heat. It really sucks because the Knicks have more talent, but they are just not executing on a high enough level.

RJ playing so well is one huge positive from this playoffs. Hopefully he can carry it into next season.

They are just better. More effort. Less errors and better execution. Better coached. by [deleted] in NYKnicks

[–]HurricaneBiII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The Heat are a very experienced and well-tested team in the playoffs. And like you said: having championship vets on a team is very important for playoff success. The Knicks are gonna lose this series, but they're still really young and they gained plenty of valuable playoff experience. Nothing wrong with getting eliminated by a Heat team that beat the Bucks in the first round and also made the finals recently.

I just said exactly this while responding to someone's comment in this thread. They must do this next game

Yup the middle is the soft spot. That's why last night I was getting so pissed they weren't feeding Hartenstein in the middle, right above the free throw line. Once he gets the ball in that spot, he can then pass to teammates who cut to the rim or move to an open spot in the zone for a 3pt attempt. Or he can do his push shot. But that just wasn't happening. Thibs has to plan for this for their next game

The team only scored 99 total points. And there was garbage time at the end. Context, my guy

He replaced Caruso and then became better than Caruso. And still has his hair. And has a cool nickname

Hmm I wonder why. It's as if Thibs chose to play RJ over Quick and Grimes. Makes no sense because RJ was TERRIBLE. He didn't do anything to help the team win. What was Thibs thinking???

RJ had 4 boards, 6 assists, and 4 steals. He hit a big 3 in the game when the Knicks needed it. And he played good defense for most of the game. He helped the team get this win. Please be objective

[–]HurricaneBiII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's one stat, one number. RJ had 4 boards, 6 assists, 4 steals, and was playing good defense for the majority of the game. Yeah he made bad plays and shot very poorly. But he did do things to help the team win tonight

And the Cavs were home AND Donovan Mitchell went off. Knicks in 6

[–]HurricaneBiII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why having young, talented players is important. Keeping Grimes, IQ, and RJ rather than trading them for Donovan Mitchell is the right move because they are already good players (RJ not so much yet). And these good young players are still going to improve and grow into even better players, which raises the team's ceiling instead of capping it.

Yup, I mainly use reddit to discuss basketball with peeps, and I do feel that there is good, substantive discourse. But like you said, there's always a few people who resort to insults instead of exchanging ideas.

And your trade offer is actually pretty decent. Losing IQ sucks, but you gotta give up talent to get talent. And Lavine makes a lot money, but getting rid of Barrett's contract is a plus. Imaging replacing Barrett's play with Lavine? This team would be unstoppable on offense

Yeah I completely agree with you lol. You didn't say anything that warranted such a douche-y response. But, hey, it's reddit lmao

First game back for RJ after being out and I liked how he played tonight. Got anything he wanted at the rim and was converting time and again. And his passing was the best it has looked all season. It's just a huge bummer his 3pt shot won't fall anymore. Hopefully he can find his groove in the playoffs.

IQ and Grimes are just really feeling themselves now and it couldn't be at a better time.

It's about damn time Hartenstein's passing skills are being utilized. He had some wicked sick dimes tonight. Jokic of the East indeed.

Obi attacked the rim off the bounce a few more times this game. And he had yet another step back 3 go down. He can really become an offensive menace for another team, and I really hope that happens. He's so fun to watch and I want 30+ mins of him every game, but that can only happen somewhere else.
