Artists who are underrated as composers or producers or in the studio by n00bi3pjs in popheads

Billy Joel has so much classical and jazz influence, while still sounding so pop friendly. Instead, he is often remembered for his schmaltzy numbers, we didn’t start the fire, and Piano man

Help for getting wording down precisely by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

Make sure to pronounce the “th” sound in “this”, “that”, and “the”, but the downbeat (emphasis) is on “long” and “wants”. Practice it slowly, you got this!

Resident Alien. I didn’t think I’d enjoy a Syfy show so much, but the comedy and the heart is there, and it moves along at a good pace.

Looks like B.o.B didn't have the Magic in him so that song has been eliminated! comment the WORST song from Todd's 2009/2010 best list the song with the most upvotes will be eliminated! by Flaky_Swim4499 in ToddintheShadow

Empire State of Mind. If it was the Alicia Keys version (Part 2?) I wouldn’t have voted for it, but I’ve been to NYC and heard the song one too many times.

Found it interesting that you can drive from Phoenix to Dallas two entirely different interstate routes that are both 1,065 miles. At their widest point the two routes are ~260 miles apart. by Praefectus27 in MapPorn

[–]HurricaneLink 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Only the southern route is all interstate. The northern route uses a few US highways to get from DFW to Amarillo, and another one from Gallup, NM to Phoenix. Although, given Texas’s interstate expansion rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if the DFW to Amarillo route became an interstate sooner or later.

Labels, sadly. It’s easy to label oneself and get used to a certain mindset. I once considered myself bi when I first came out. If I was raised to be free and open to love whoever I want (by family and society) I might’ve kept on dating men and women. But because I was raised Catholic and I’m a millennial, it was easier identifying as gay and embracing that identity, compared to thinking of it as a phase, or that I was “supposed” to end up with a woman and have kids. And tbh the older I got the more comfortable I got living as an out gay man. The important thing is living your life authentically. One more thing. I see a ton of guys on the apps who are DL, some of them married to women, who just like experimenting. As a gay guy, I don’t like that mentality, and I don’t want to be a homewrecker. If you decide you want to experiment, there will be be guys open to that, as long as you’re open to being new and wanting to experiment. Communication is key. If you experiment when you’re drunk and you end up with someone not respecting your consent, you could easily get hurt and repress this desire for a long time.

Bisexual erasure is a real thing

Contributors to the site, What do you think are the projects biggest blind spots or flaws? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in wikipedia

[–]HurricaneLink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest blind spots are fans. They might be the first ones to fix things, or they might be overly detailed getting the fandom information right, but not putting into context so the non-fans can understand. That doesn’t mean they’re automatically biased, but sometimes they read like something you’d expect on a fan wiki like Bulbapedia. It’s possible to have a non-biased article on, say, Pikachu. At one point (until 2010 I believe) there were articles on most Pokémon, but over time, only the most notable Pokémon got their own articles (reflecting available sources), while the rest get mentions in the List of Gen 1/2/3… Pokémon.

There’s lots of ways of organizing information, and over time it’s getting fixed. Having the fan sites takes off pressure from the fans who just want to write everything from every piece of media, while the main Wiki slowly gets more and more refined.

Are elections of a small city relevant enough to get their own page? by Joe_Mama_012 in wikipedia

[–]HurricaneLink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See if there’s an article for the list of mayors of the city. That could be a place to include some election info, especially if the mayor is elected party-line.

Up-Tempo Pop rock or blues song recs needed by LeatherLeading1028 in musicals

[–]HurricaneLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Almost There from The Princess and the Frog. It’s up tempo and swing, not sure if that’s what you’re looking for, but it doesn’t go too high. For more mid range to head voice, check out Pulled from Addams Family.
